The immediate and substantial backlash was justified.

We can play hypotheticals all you want but there's nothing to quantify the same or indifferent type of volume reaction there would have been in another scenario but you can bet your arse there would have still been substantial backlash if Johnny Rocks in Dallas did the same bit.

At the end of the day, what they did was so far beyond the line that there's zero doubt about the justification of the punishment. Zero. Playing a hypothetical of what would have been our reaction had it been this or that serves no purpose as to the reality of dealing with what actually transpired.

I agree 100%. My point is this:
Don't lump what 3 "shock-jocks" did on a radio station together with Falcons/Falcons fans. 99% of Falcons fans realize this crossed a line, myself included, and I've said this numerous times. I live in New Orleans and I don't want to have to get in a fight because someone thinks "I hate Steve Gleason" cause I'm a Falcons fan.

Some of you might laugh at that notion - but let's be real.

My whole point to the previous post is that some of you appear to just being using this as a catalyst or battle cry to hate Atlanta (the actual city, team, and fans) even more than you already do. That's pathetic...
The end.

Dimino is usually the level headed mature one. He's very intentional in what he says. You could tell he was very uncomfortable with the bit and from what I know of him, I'm surprised he participated at all.

Saw this way more on twitter and agree. Don't really need people throwing in a who dat hashtag in this, or counting down to falcons game. This brings the whole sad situation back to football where it shouldn't be.

haha. No kidding.
Is JW sleeping ok at night knowing he cost a few people their livelihood? Well, he should be. Those guys deserved it. You have the freedom to say what you want - you also have the freedom to get smacked in the face by the results.

"Hi, yeah, I just wanted to weigh in on the whole Gleason thing. Ok, hey, this is America, and you have the freedom of speech, but alright, though, you have responsibilities for what you say too on the other."

Seriously, that's what you sound like: a pregnant high school student who just took a civics class.

Congrats on sounding like a horrible idiot.

To start, I personally, don't lump Falcons fans with what these guys said. But, I took a look at Falconslife to see what the were saying about it, and it certainly wasn't 99%.

Like I said, I don't lump you guys in with what they said, but I think Falcons' fans are the only ones who think it's funny/appropriate to still make Katrina jokes, to this day. Part of this plays into the frustration with Falcons fans taking it too far at times.

I am happy to report that I did sleep well last night (a 14 hour day on this film certainly helped). Hearing it live fueled such outrage as I could not believe what they were saying. I wanted to share this instantaneously with a fan base I knew would not stand by and let this go quietly into a slow Monday morning news day.

Surely the story would have surfaced later in the day, but I am thankful TD, Scott F. and the Louisiana community were able to go viral to really get the passionate opposition out there. I don't like to see people lose their jobs, but this would absolutely be a case where it is appropriate.

And after the rest of the country heard what I did - most seem to agree with the outcome. I certainly like most don't blame any Falcon Fans or Atlanta residents, but I am happy to be coming home in a few weeks just in time for preseason.
