For just the one thing, I would say no. Everyone is so reactionary. But from what a few people in that area were saying yesterday, this isn't the first time they've done a joke in poor taste. Probably a legit fire regardless of the Gleason bit.

I'm going to vote no to make the Falcons fans look bad!

It's like I said yesterday, they've toed the line plenty in the past but never crossed it like this. Not that I've heard anyway. I'm don't listen to that show every morning either though. Usually I have 680 on. It's always fun to hear what ATL folks think of us. And they talk about us plenty.
Cellini's bits are usually pretty funny. He does a great Lou Pinella. I was stunned to hear how far they took it yesterday.
Dimino is usually the level headed mature one. He's very intentional in what he says. You could tell he was very uncomfortable with the bit and from what I know of him, I'm surprised he participated at all.
Steak is just a jackass.

So was it Cellini that actually did the impression? I couldn't tell. The other 2 guys seemed uncomfortable with it.

The Gleason comments were the proverbial straw.
They've been losing the ratings battle for a while now, and that was probably a contributing factor.

that probably made the digestion a bit easier but no way they were gonna NOT get fired.

What's this really got to do with Falcons fans? I'm starting to wonder if had this skit been done from a station in say... Texas... would the reaction be as "angry"?
Obviously most will say of course... but really would it have been? In other words - some of you have "faux outrage" simply because it was done in Atlanta and that station happens to be the flagship station for the Falcons.

As you admitted, the Falcons flagship station did a sick skit to make its Falcons fan audience laugh at a Saints player with ALS, a terminal disease.
From the bottom of my heart, frick the Falcons.
ps-I voted "ridiculous overkill".

Nice hypothetical, except for the part about it being completely wrong.

I've repeatedly stated I do not associate these idiots with falcons fans or Blank, Smith, etc. It is not a reflection of them or their character. There was plenty of outrage from ATL as well.
Of course we have all come to respect Gleason and his platform was primarily provided due to his playing career, ties to the saints. If some fricktard on any station performed the skit my reaction would've been the same. I look at Steve as a guy who is a couple of years older than me, also with a young son. He is unable to show his son that he loves him in any of the ways we commonly associate with a fathers love. I couldn't fathom being there but being trapped inside my own body with my eyes being my only method of affection or communication. The fact that Gleason blocked a punt against the city in question's franchise/rivalry between the teams couldn't matter less to me.
The pre produced skit of going after a guy who has done nothing but positive things for others, after receiving one of the most cruel death sentences imaginable in his mid 30s is fricking heinous and I'm reallygglad those shitheads got axed.

Couldn't give a reply any better than what you just said. Agreed.

Several people in the comment section stated it was "overkill" or "political correctness", or that only "a few" people were offended, etc.
To these individuals, I say let ALS affect you or your immediate family, them get back to me.

790 broadcast your games. How are you not seeing this? Goodell sees it, and I'll be here to say I told you so when the suspensions are handed down.
