How much was that guy making?

I'd be interested to see his salary. I bet it was in the 250-300 range. I would love to see someone leak all the ESPN salaries to Deadspin.

The Schwab finally got stumped.

Those overpaid trolls get to keep their jobs though.

Given his following and popularity after being on "Stump the Schwab" Howie Schwab will become the public face for these layoffs and the people who have given decades of service to ESPN only to be laid off due to their high salaries. It's nothing but unfortunate.

No great loss. I never cared for him.

Seeing Howie Schwab in the hallways at ESPN with his jersey du jour and a big bag of chips was always a delight.

He probably wasn't sexually harassing the interns enough.

They've been spending money like crazy (SEC Contract, BCS contract, etc.)

No but they probably figured after a few years of Bayless and Smith that the people that are watching will watch no matter what's on so they might as well cut costs.
After all, they can't afford to be caught shorthanded when it's time to pay that national treasure Chris Berman some more money.

They have to pay the fees for the consulting firm they hired to tell them who to fire somehow, right?

Disney just jacked up the rates at the Disney parks.

We do not have a spending problem, we have a tax problem

Right now ESPN is buying up the rights to EVERY sport just to keep them away from NBC Sports Network and Fox Sports 1. Even if they don't have anywhere to show them. Case in point: college baseball.

What has Schwab been up to?

According to an article in S.Illustrated last fall, ESPN last yr took in $3 B in subscription revenue & $6 B in add revenue. As well, it is a $40 B entity. overall. No, it is not losing money.
