Not sure how many people know about the show "Pop Fiction" on Gametrailers.com but it takes common video game myths, rumors, legends, etc. and attempts to prove whether they're true or not.

The show is really well made and covers such classics as Super Mario Brothers, The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, Halo, and Final Fantasy VII

Just thought I'd let the board know about it in case there is someone looking for something to watch on a lazy Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

I still believe you can get Luigi on Super Mario 64. He's out there somewhere...

I wish I could go back in time to blow my younger self's mind when I inform him that you CAN in fact catch a Mew.

I remember the uproar over the muslim chants in the fire temple in the original release of OoT.

If I keep putting pistol rounds into starchild, I'll eventually get the good mass effect 3 ending.

Yeah, it hit my circle of friends in elementary school. Then we figured out that it was actually a pretty big ordeal. According to that myth busters show, Nintendo had already replaced the music prior to the release of the game. But the cartridges they remixed the music on weren't released until well after the first two versions (1.0, 1.1) were shipped out. I still have version 1.1 so I've got the chanting on my game.

seem to recall getting that game fairly close to launch, but I was young and sheltered and gave zero shits about muslims.

so it was all lost on me if i had one of the cartridges in question.

Same feeling here. Turns out the "chanting" sound bit is actually just a generic sound that can be bought from a library. That exact chant is in 3 different games. Cruisin' USA being one of them.

Something similar happened with Little Big Planet as well.

Something that wasn't covered in that video was the controversy over the symbols on the blocks in Zelda OoT. Also tied to Muslim backgrounds.

Yeah, I forgot about that. It was most prominently displayed on the final shield you acquire, the mirror shield. It was changed in later versions.
