You do not need to be on a WatchESPN cable provider to get ESPN3. ESPN3 has a much much broader distributiion. ESPN puts a bunch of stuff on ESPN3 that they do not televise on another ESPN channel. Its the stuff on TV that you need WatchESPN for.

Having said that, there is no reason why ESPN cannot syndicate out those regionals that do not make it to an ESPN TV channel. To me it seems like a way to get more exposure for ESPN3. Regular giy goes to ESPN3 for the first time to watch LSU baseball and sees thaat they show Aussie Rules Football or cricket too, hoping to draw that guy in.

Oh yeah, my 73 year old grandfather can't believe that ESPN isn't showing the #1 team in the nation. I guarantee you he was one of the ones that called in and complained.

Glad that ESPN only hates one of my 2 favorite college baseball teams. They love showing the Fullerton Regional on TV for some reason.

But your Internet Service Provider DOES have to be affiliated. The info thread at the top has a link to the list.

If you try to watch ESPN3 on iPad, it forces you to go to the app, and that forces to enter your provider, username, and password.

The number of providers are very limited. That's what this is all about. ESPN is holding the games hostage to create artificial demand for an Internet service that most people don't want or even need. It is entirely possible to provide different games on ESPNU in different markets. They did that for LSU football last year. But that would kill their need to tell people to "contact your local cable provider and tell them that you want watchESPN."

Remember when you could only listen to regional games on the radio. It wasn't that long ago. The CWS was usually the first time any LSU baseball game was on tv.

Get over it.

You can log in to watchESPN with your ISP info. Get off the cable stuff. Internet Service Provider.

I remember a time when you could watch the games on TV without being a pawn in ESPN's pissing match with ISPs.

It was LAST YEAR.

Streaming games is the main reason I bought a laptop with an HDMI out.

This is the future folks. A year from now when the SEC Network comes to life, ESPN will determine how you will see (or not see) any LSU sporting event. Get used to it. LSU has sold you out for the cold, hard cash once again. If you don't have cable and your cable company doesn't carry the SEC Network then you are totally screwed!!
