I am open to ceramic, gas, or hybrids. Thank you for the suggestions.

Only answer is another weber, just depends on what you want to spend. I have class, no-frills weber kettle and a WSM. I'm thinking of getting rid of the kettle soon and upgrading to a weber performer. Those are some fine grills.

Don't waste your money on anything but one of the top three egg style grills. BGE, Primo, or Kamado Joe. You will never have to ask this question again.

Count me as a ceramic fan...does everything that a WSM and a kettle will do (except ultra low temps).

I am considering an infrared grill as an addition to my two ceramic cookers.

Built my own homemade Charcoal/pit smoker 22 years ago. Still performs like new.
I always swore off gas grills years ago.

But I bought me a little Weber Q220 gas grill a few years ago and I love it for something quick and easy. I use it 2-3 times a week. Great for a few burgers , chicken or a piece of fish
I even find myself throwing just a few ears of corn, or roasting garlic or a couple of tomatoes to go with something I am cooking in the kitchen.
I highly recommend them

I'm thinking that with the slow cooking wsm that the convenience of gas is the way to cook

Can you cook up burgers and sausage and stuff pretty quickly with ceramic?

I've always been intrigued by the kamado ceramic cookers, but I can't bring myself to spend that kind of money when my webers function so well and seem to be indestructible. I am envious of the ridiculously high temps the kamado can achieve, though.

Why would you really need that if you are trying to complement a WSM?

Sounds to me like the Weber Performer shown is the best advice. He needs something just to grill on. A good charcoal grill or something like a Weber Genesis makes the most sense.

If the question was about looking for something to grill and smoke on then the Kamado style cookers make sense.

I would recommend the Performer/WSM combo.
