People who do shite like this should be publicly scorned, and the scumbag lawyers who bring such dumb lawsuits should face disbarrment for wasting the courts time. Yet another great example of why we need a loser pays system.

If she had a preexisting phobia that already affected her life negatively, how could she get some moolah for a continuance of her phobia?

Hospital should counter sue for damages to the door and emotional distress of helathcare providers in the surgical area having to deal with an acute psychological disorder that was unexpected and not on their patient, in addition to any medical supplies used to care for her after she hit the door.
this is the reason why illogical restrictions are placed on patients families. I would bet that family will no longer be allowed in preop area now.
