The first thing that came to mind was "Life is Beautiful" but after reading your post, I think for me it's slightly edged out by "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" because of the rewatchability factor

Pan's Labyrinth without question. An absolute masterpiece. A film where the original language really serves the story. Really can't beat it.

A lot of great choices on this list. I am familiar with many of these and look forward to discovering the few I haven't. One foreign film that is being overlooked because it was a hit movie in the U.S. is Das Boot. I wouldn't call it my favorite - just a great flick. An action packed guilty pleasure also not mentioned is Mesrine.
