Thinking of getting bigger tires on truck

Bought a new 2013 GMC Sierra SLT 3 months ago but want bigger/high terrain tires. Where should I go?
How much should I pay?
Are there places that will buy my current tires? Still in great shape
How will bigger tires affect my MPG?
I don't want to lift the truck bc I hear it voids the warranty.

I put 305/70/16's on my '03 Z71 almost 30k miles ago. Was told over and over again they wouldn't fit but they did and they do not rub at all.
I lost 2-3 mpg easily. Whatever you buy will be louder on highway too. Just how it is.
I do highly recommend General Grabbers though. I've had BFG's and these were cheaper and better, especially in mud. They siphon and clean out better than the BFG's. they won't last as long but they're cheaper and I'll buy them again.
Look to craigslist to sell your used tires. You may have to deal with your typical idiots but they'll sell.

My neighbor just put 275/60/r20's (33 inch tire) on his Sierra and they don't rub and look great too. Fills out the wheel well better. Gas mileage shouldn't be too much different as long as you don't lift. I have a set of Cooper Zeons that have 50k plus and have at least another 5 left in em. Great all terrains and quiet.

Your MPGs are going to go down. How much depends on your rear end and what size tire you put.
Going from factory size tires to say a 33" tire with 3.42 gears is going to murder your fuel mileage.

It might look better, but if and when he goes offroading, flexing, he will rub big time.
Check some of the offroad web sites. Most of them will tell you the pro's and con's of bigger tires for your truck.

Discounttiredirect.com lower prices, no tax, and free shipping. Got mine mounted at wal mart for $45 with lifetime rotation and balancing

FWIW many places do not do free rotate balance on oversize (33"+) tires

Not sure how aggressive of a grip you want but I put a 31.5 (285 or 295) tire on my truck. Fills wheel well nicely and looks good. Have hit some bad ruts and no rubbing vs the 305s I had that rubbed every time I turned into a parking lot that was slightly raised.

Go straight to gas pump. Do not pass go. Throw away $200

It's not that bad

Dont see this happening. My 33.5's rubbed.

Also, Walmart will not mount a tire that is over size rated for a car/truck whick the door sticker states.
I just went thru this with them last month. They sold me tires, but stated the above.

I put a 3" body lift and 33x12's, I really doubt I could run 35's without some serious rubbing. At least not a 12 wide, but I hate the way a 10" AT/MT tire looks, not enough meat.

This must be a new policy cause I ordered a set 295/75/16 from discount tire direct last summer and brought them to Walmart in pville to have them put on.

If you have an SLT 3 that means you probably have 20's, right? I highly recommend a 285/55/r20 BFG All Terrain. Just don't look at how much they cost. If you don't feel like shelling out $400/tire (wuss) then look at the Cooper Zeon LTZ in probably a 275/60r20 for about half the price. 20" wheels kill you on tire prices.
And yes, mileage will suffer. I put those BFG's on my Yukon and even though they're only 1" taller and 1" wider I lost about 2MPG - used to avg 15, now at 13.
For best prices call everyone in town - tire prices are all over the map. I finally ended up at Winner's Circle who agreed to beat the completely fabricated quote I gave them from Sears, about $200 less than everywhere else.

I think it is as of the first of the year. They sent a tire man out to my jeep to read the sticker. I was like WTF?
Went to a local service station for mounting. $50 for the 4.

Depends which one you go to or who is working. We have one close by that won't mount anything except factory size. The one here in town will mount anything you bring within reason. Mine are bigger than factory spec
