OMG a team that went 7-9 last year and hasn't added any big name FA's isn't one of the top 5 rosters in the NFL?!!!!!!!!! I AM OUTRAGED!!!!!!!

the saints aren't a 7-9 team without league mandated suckage. And we did add some guy named Payton who wasn't with that team.

Seahawks are going to be scary good. So young too.

I'm not sold on their QB, nor the option-esque offense they run out of. They do have a good group of players though. Super Bowls have been won with worse, that's for sure.

Even when we had Payton, our roster wasn't top 5. Just like the Colts with Manning was never a top 5 roster.

If we weren't we weren't far off. Top 10 at least. And the saints had much better rosters than most of those colt teams. Top 5 roster or not, we're a top 5 team.

I'm more sold on him than RG3. He's built better to take a hit and is compact. RG3 is thin and lanky and when he gets hit it isn't good. And it's not really an option esquire offense. Wilson keeps it when he has too. Doesn't look to run like RG3 did a lot. And look at Wilson's stats from his bye week on. He was as good as any QB the last 6 weeks of the year and into the playoffs.

I agree we are a top 5 team with out coach. But that's not what the article was about. It's about roster. Without Payton, and us relying in just our talent, we are a 7-9 team.

And I'm not sure we had much better rosters than the colts did. Manning, Harrison, Wayne, Addai/James on offense. Sanders, Freeney, Mathis on D.

Roster wise I'm not sure we are even top 10. Brees, Graham, Colston, Sproles, and our guards on O. I'm not sure that many of our defensive players would even be starting on other teams except Lofton, Will Smith, and maybe Cam Jordan, Jenkins, Greer, and Vilma.

We aren't that talented of a team. We win with our QB and head coach. And in the NFL, those are the 2 spots that can win games. We play way above our talent level because of Brees and Payton. I hate them, but the Falcons are a more talented team than we are in terms of individual players. Except at the QB and head coach position. And that's why we beat them. We play above their talent because of 2 people. Brees and Payton.

I have a gut feeling they fall flat this season but they dont run an option esque offense at all.

Haha my gut feeling is they get to the Super Bowl haha. The Harvin addition gives them the most dynamic playmaker in the NFL and he is a perfect fit for what they do on offense. And their defense will be top 5. They have the best defensive backfield in the NFL and one of the best young LBs in Bobby Wagner. They don't really have a weakness to them. They matchup with anybody in the league.

Yean but we have a better coach than any of those teams, although harbaugh is pretty decent.
showing your B & G tardiness. Payton as HC is still slightly above average for me, top OC, yes. Although Greg Williams is a fake arse, he is still responsible for Saints only SB.

also, the redskins roster is probably more talented than Saints. RG3 don't go down, I think they beat Seattle.

dude weighs 235 with granite for calfs. Nothing about him is thin. He just took a pounding because he refused to slide something I think he will be doing a lot of from here on.

I am. He will be a top 3-4 qb in a few years. Dude is a pro and smart as hell. He also has a cannon. He will be just as good as Brees when he reaches his peak, and there is nothing regarding the NFL that I am more confident about.

I'm not sure if Wilson will be on Brees' level, but the dude is an absolute stud.

It's going to sound cliched as hell but you can just watch the guy and tell he has it...that same drive and work ethic that Brees has. Taking the height thing out of picture, he reminds me of Brees more than any other qb.

Dude was so unbelievably poised after falling behind big in two playoff games it isn't even fair. Must be nice to have a legit qb for peanuts.

PFF had him ranked right behind Brees in total QB stats last year.
5th overall, I believe.

And everyone is too busy talking about RG3 and Luck.

I think the 49ers and Seahawks will both be solid teams, but the hype they are getting make me feel like both wont be close to these all word teams as described. I've said numerous times on this board that I think Kaepernick will regress, and the odds of getting to a conference title game 3 straight seasons is slim to none. They'll probably split their games, and the Rams won't be a pushover.

I think the Saints will beat the 49ers at home, but lose in Seattle. Regardless, neither of these teams will be the unstoppable forces people are making them out to be. I'll eat crow of wrong.

To the OP; we do not have a top 5 roster. If you want to discuss us having a top 5 overall offense based on who we have I'll accept that, but definitely not a top 5 roster. I do however think there's a good chance that the Saints could go back to being a top 5 team this season.

Agreed. We have a top 5 player and a top 5 coach and we can do wonders with that.

Yeah, we have a top 10 roster who overachieve due to Brees and Payton.

They did somehow make it to back to back AFC title games. They've had a good defense, but man it'd suck
to be a fan of a team with Sanchez at QB. They have to make some serious moves on offense.

What's with the eye rolls? We're not top 5, get over it.
