I don't know how legitimate these sources are, but it's spreading around the Internet. Original reports were he mistook her for a burglar and shot. Charged with murder now

A buddy of mine worked there for a year. Apparently home invasions are pretty common and most citizens have confronted someone in a firefight at some point in their lives defending their property. My buddy's best friend there died from a firefight defending him home from burglars.

If the body was found inside of his home, I'm not sure the defense has a leg to stand on.

No clue if he did it on purpose or not, but I have lots of friends who live in South Africa and agree with the poster above, home invasion, kidnapping, etc is very common.
