The show is basically saying looking ugly and being fat is ok.

it's even better than that

if you do call out the main character for being ugly, you will be told that you're ignorant and uncultured

there are times where it seems like they intend to make her into the worst human being ever, but then they try to redeem her character all the time and/or turn her into a sympathetic character

Ok I don't fall into that category but I also don't think the majority of people do either. That being said, why the heck is this show so hyped and the media talks about Lena Dunham as some creative genius when it is relatable for such a small faction of people?

I like it. The first season was funny. This season, not as funny. Some have been good, like the coke episode.

it's terribly un-funny, and premise is 100% unbelievable: no living, breathing male would ever knowingly, willingly have sex with that fat, ugly bitch

......and worst tattoo ever, looks like something a 5 year old would scribble on the back of a kid's menu

which is funny b/c the episodes that are funny are the ones completely making the characters look like the fricking idiots and horrible/selfish people that they are

If she thought of that thing that Booth Jonathan made with the TV then she is a goddamn genius. That thing was awesome.

Ironic considering basically the entire cast is made up of chicks who grew up privileged and rich. I remember people talking about nepotism on the show before it even started.

that is pretty funny

it makes a lot of things make sense, too. if you get those daughters roles, you raise your chances of getting it green-lighted. and you'll obviously get a ton of good press for using insiders.

I like the show. I think its pretty innovative in how it tells a coming of age type story. The show depicts these four 20 something year old privelaged white girls for what they are in reality: while sweet, funny, and at times intelligent....blissfully ignorant adolescents who really don't know shite about making it on their own in the real world. In their struggle to grow up, they make a few mistakes and I think it makes for a pretty refreshing show.

The most recent episode had a pretty epic argument between Jessa and her husband. Everything the guy said was so funny because it was true. "...And you're a whore with no work ethic."

how is it innovative?

it's the same "moving to nyc with dreams" story that's been told 5000 times before

The main fat girl is disgusting and for some reason has to write herself naked in every goddamn episode. We get it. You want the audience to feel uncomfortable about how comfortable you are with your body. We are not uncomfortable. We are disgusted, you fat frick.

thats true I find it really awkward when she is naked and has a sex scene, but I like the show a lot and find it kinda funny.

I respectfully disagree. I don't remember any of those shows even attempting to touch on some of the subject matter that Girls does. Of course, the show is on HBO so they have a license to do so. It is a coming of age nyc story, sure thats been done. I think its innovative in how the show goes about telling that story. The show does not glorify the girls actions, rather it constantly tears down their visions of how society is. I think people can identify with how raw and unglamorous some of the scenes are: the awkward sex/relationship conversations, the awkward sex scenes.... the coke night. It all seems pretty real, like we have been there before. Oh and Judd Apatowm (Apatow Productions) produced it...its a really funny show....and, again, its on HBO. All of that adds up to it being a pretty good show, IMO.

Get Him to the Greek, Wanderlust, Bridesmaids Five Year Engagement, This is 40.

Those are the last 5 movies he produced with new Anchorman on the way. So yeah, "still a good thing."

I am sick of this show priding itself on it being "the realistic view of 20 something year old women living in New York"

Spolier. It's not.
