some thoughts

the districts will be the same for the next two years (assuming everyone's under one banner).

shite will change at the reclassification meeting in 2014... odds are good you'll see st. paul's and catholic br with the NOLA Catholic League. that will give them a stable and logical 8 team district. byrd would stay with the shreveport district.

4A select i assume would be St Thomas More, Warren Easton, Karr, O.P. Walker, Ben Franklin, Teurlings, St. Michael, Vandebilt. Again 1 district

3A select NOLA would be Lusher, St. Charles, TJ, De La Salle, Clark, Curtis, McDonogh, and Miller McCoy

3A select everyone else would be E.D. White, St. Louis, Parkview, Notre Dame, and UHigh. Evangel and Loyola would stay in Shreveport (or move one to the Monroe district)

1A would be the only class with a North LA select district

travel should be less of a concern than ever... teams crisscross the state for each round of the playoffs and now are playing regular season games intersectionally

there will have to be a special provision in the power ratings to deal with nonselect schools who still choose to play select. maybe 4 or 6 points? of course you'd also get them for playing the Clarks and Miller McCoys of the select world, so that might be an issue. maybe only the good select teams should have a bonus with them.

Recruiting happens on both sides, Public and Private. I grew up in Franklin and Hanson started recruiting around my freshman year in high school. It started with one black guy and then gradually more were added. OTOH FSHS would find the best athletes right outside of the district and get them to come to our school( the ol they live with their grandmother clause).

I've had classes in trailers the whole time I've been in school. It's not a big deal

This is a joke!!! WM recruits like hell, half of East Carroll and Morehouse used to go to OG. I know kids at Mangham that their dad told me he got inquiries from Mangham and Ouachita plus a couple privates. Half of Forest 1st Baseball championship team lived in Epps school zone, plus the starting pitcher lived in Texas and moved back in with friends (Epps school zone) to play in the spring!!!

the first transfers we got didn't really do much...

I don't like this. Will public and private still play in the regular season? St. Amant and Catholic have had a heated rivalry for longer than I've been alive.

This is all Don Green and Parkview's fault. We recruited Robert Jupiter, Jermaine Williams, and Marques Ledoux in the 90s to win all those state titles. Suck it.

the only school in this parish to vote yes was CL Lafourche... and they suck at most everything.

CL does not suck at almost everything. The only sport it has not had much of any success in is Basketball (and it's still had its moments and didn't have to recruit the players to do so unlike some school ), and recently football, and that's almost definitely about to change with the hiring of the new head coach.

- CL baseball = most successful public in area
- CL soccer = most successful public in area
- Girls cross country coming off district championship
- Girls track always at or near top of district
- Girls soccer = most successful public in parish
- Girls softball = most successful public in parish

Even academically CL has just about bypassed SL for top school in every category. Since Kimball's taken over as principal CL's test scores have almost doubled. Latest EOC test scores CL outscored SL (Algebra 72% to 62%, Biology 62% to 59 %, English 70% to 65%, SL outscored CL 53% to 45% in Geometry). Hell even CL's band won state this year & last.

In regards to sports though, the reason CL voted yes and SL/Thibodaux didn't is because SL/Thibodaux don't lose as many kids to privates as CL does.

- CL being in the middle of EDW/Vandy and now CCA/Houma Christian it loses a good bit of kids to them.

- SL is too far of a drive to lose very many kids to either school.

- Thibodaux does lose some to EDW but most kids in the Thibodaux area that go to EDW have been going there since they were younger. Plus Thibodaux has so many more kids than CL/SL that the impact is minimal.

It's the same for HLB in Terrebonne. They're hard hit by Vandy, Houma Christian, CCA even EDW. The rest of the schools only have to fend off a couple of them, and for some like ST rarely any of them because of the distance.

If this was a couple years ago when Curtis was stealing all those South Lafourche kids and you guys were crying about it to no end I bet SL would have voted, YES! BUT since Curtis has left you guys alone and EDW/Vandy are to far to have any impact on you why not vote no on a vote that will pass by a landslide anyway. That way SL fans can say see we're not scared.

The private schools will not break away as a group. I do not think that the people talking about it realize what it would take. The principal from Jesuit came off like a spoiled, little brat today that did not get his way.

Which line of public school logic are we going with today? Private schools have endless money and they offer everyone and their mom scholarships to play sports or private schools don't even have enough money to break away from the LHSAA? You guys are insane.

And I got news for you. Every athlete at a public school is on scholarship! It's called my tax dollars, so quit whining. If you want to make your public schools better, how about you guys quit letting leftist loonies run your schools and get some damn discipline.

Word is Superdome will pull out of State Finals and only have select hs games. Publix will be out in the cold December rain with low/no attendance and everyone gets a participation trophy. Might not keep score either. Bwaaahahahahahahahahaha
