He was responding to cockboy's comment that Oregon can recruit Top 5 classes with ease.

Alright miss that, thanks

There simply isn't enough local talent for Oregon to be a consistent winner.

Pretty sure the majority of their best players have come from other parts of the country, such as Texas and California.
ETA: You were responding to them being a consistent winner. My bad.

Oregon heavily recruits California and the West Coast in general. In terms of numbers, getting a Texas recruit is somewhat infrequent. Like maybe 3 on their 2 deep.

Local talent has never been important in college football. As long as you establish you recruiting ground it really makes very little difference how far or close you are to it.

Tx am is a knee injury away from being a .500 football team.

Nike money.

That's great, but A&M has oil money. They'll be able to keep him IF (huge if at this point) Oregon were to call.

Also, Oregon is not the better job at the moment. They're facing NCAA issues and will take a penalty. They are in the easier conference, but they've lost 1 game twice and watched an SEC team play for it all. A&M is trending as the better job.

1 more year. Next year is his 3rd year out of high school and early 2014 mocks have him going top 10 overall.

Many of Chip's best players have been Texas kids they paid for.

Coincidentally, all of the Texas recruits that they got and are under investigation for have transferred out.

Because people talk about them more? Thats not going to play a role at all in Sumlin's decision if he were to consider it. Surely he will instantly be at the program level he wants to be at with Oregon, and the ceiling you would say is a wild card depending on recruiting. Texas A&M still has some ground before they are at the level of Oregon but you know the potential for the ceiling of the program could be REALLY high IF they are able to out recruit all the other schools in the south. I think Oregon would have less competition for recruits out west than A&M in the south. I put a 0% chance of Sumlin ever going to Oregon either way.

One thing for sure...Eugene is 1000 times better than College Station. I would run to Oregon so fast I would cause Dust Bowl II as I tore across west Texas.
