I would describe myself as a foodie but i'll be sort of entertaining/showing around a group of old high school friends, all in their mid twenties, who dont know much about food, so I want to introduce them to some quality nola cuisine. anyone have a recommendation that both they and I would enjoy, with entrees in the $10-20 range?

You might want to check out the menu at Sobou. There are small plates for under $10.
Agree on Mandina's. Great New Orleans neighborhood atmosphere. Menu is huge so you can get anything from poboys to entrees. Everyone can decide what they want to spend. It's not the best of the best, but definitely serves the purpose for your price range.
Casamento's would be fun, as well. Great fried seafood and raw oysters.

I'd go with Mandina's for the atmosphere and food. It'll serve your needs very well.

Liuzza, Mahoneys, Katie's, Dragos even Superior Seafood for that range.
