Anybody got a BBQ Guru for their egg?

I got one for Christmas and just installed it. A couple of questions for those already initiated.
1) How did you achieve a good seal on the vent?
2) Any tips or tricks?
TIA

That's cheating, right there.
You should just turn in your egg and get a progane grill.

I agree with you but I really like the idea of not having to wake up every hour to check my temp.

You shouldn't have to be checking your temp constantly... Get your temp stabilized prior to putting meat on and you should be good for the night.
I do like the idea of the guru though, was it easy to install?

Got one for Father's Day. Haven't had trouble with the seal. Does a good job maintaining a steady low temp. I use the lid open option in the menu.

Very easy. Haven't used it yet. Waiting for New Years.

A perfect seal isn't really necessary. A small gap won't hurt since the draft door is closed enough that the Guru controls the Temp.

I use the Digi Q WiFi ubit on my WSM and it works great. Some of the best ribs I have ever smoked have been done using that little unit.

The seal isn't overly important. The fan will keep you at your desired temp unless you've done something WAY wrong.
The thing you have to watch out for is leaving your daisy wheel (the adjustable top thing) too open. If it is opened too wide, your temp can get too high and is a pain in the arse to bring down.
With the Guru, if you can get a stable temp for an hour or so, you should generally be good to go for the duration of the cook.
Good luck

glad someone started this thread. i am the proud new owner of a large bge. still in the packaging and i hope to set it up tomorrow. i was looking at thermometer options and the guru seems legit.
is this the one you have? LINK
i was thinking about grabbing one. looks like you can track it with your iPhone.

I've had good luck using the ceramic cap in place of the daisy wheel and seems to keep the temps pretty stable.

I have one for my Big Steel Keg. I drilled a hole in the side and made a permanent port for it. I seal the bottom damper with some of that foil tape. I can hold 200-250 stable for 14 hours and barely used half my lump. I could probably go 24 hours easy if I wanted.
F*** that noise

Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. I usually heat my egg to 50 degrees above my desired temp and throw on my room temp meat. I wait for the egg to stabilize for about 30 mins and go to sleep. Never done an overnight smoke with an alarm. I just wake up to check. Usually I don't have to adjust but I have had the temp creep up on me before. I've had my egg for 4+ years and done many overnight smokes.
The model I have is the digiq dx2.

Dang that one is a lot cheaper than the one I found. Looks like identical products. Think I'll go with that one and a maverick et732
