May be true on public land, but I'm pretty sure you can shoot does on private land there...

Take it fwiw but I was having a conversation with a lawyer that hunts Ms and he said he'll never buy a license again since the fine for hunting w/o one is only $50

Does Mississippi have the quality of deer to warrant that price for a week? I've seen a metric shite ton of deer driving through there but never any studs. Just wondering about their quality of bucks

Like someone said. You get around those farm lands, especially close to the Mississippi River, you could kill the buck of a lifetime.

Is that right? If so I may quit buying one. All I hunt is my own land and National Forest areas that I can walk to from the shack. I've never been checked while hunting.

Non-residents are not supposed to shoot does either. Are you sure about this???????

The fine is about 500 for hunting without a license if you just get caught hunting without one....if you get caught with a deer in your possesion and no license, I'm pretty positive your pocket book will be hurting badly...pay the license for peace of mind...no record...unless you already have a record, then screw it...I guess....I go to relax, I'd be passing peach pits wondering when green jeans will show up, but thats just my personal paranoia...to each his own.

This.

It is much more enjoyable for me in the woods knowing I have a license.

I wished everyone felt this way. Maybe they would finally get back right on the price of them.

F@&$ all y'all coonasses that come up here to rape and pillage every brown 4 legged animal. Just kidding. Oh and for me to get a Louisiana out of state license is relatively the same price as out of state Mississippi.

Is it illegal to sit in a stand/climber wearing camo? How do they prove you were hunting?

I have always thought I would just toss the gun if GJ showed up and pick it up a day or two later

Game wardens here have a lot more leeway in writing a ticket than most LEO's. I've seen em jump out of their vehicle and check people just walking in or out of the woods. Unloaded rifle makes no difference. Seen em issue spotlighting tickets to folks who took too long to make a right hand turn at a stop sign after dark. I'd venture to guess that if GJ caught you in a stand with camo and no weapon, you better have a camera in your hand. Otherwise, it'd still cost you more in court costs and lawyer fees than the fine AND you'd still probably lose not only the charge, but any of your equipment you had on you, up to and including your vehicle. I'd just buy the liscense. Peace of mind is a bargain at any price. Just my opinion.

the fine is probably cheaper than fricking your gun up and have the game warden find it on the ground while you are in a stand
