Eagle Rare 10 year bourbon. The best bourbon for the money! Just a step below Blanton's and like $20-$25 less per bottle depending on the store.

What's the boards thoughts on Makers Mark's recent news that due to excess demand they will be reducing the ABV by 3.0% in their bourbon?

I think it's bull shite. Just raise the price if that's the case. I drink Makers some, but not a big fan like some.

I dont really care for Maker's regardless... There is better stuff out there for the same price. I've heard the 46 is good but I havent brought myself to spend $35 on it and find out.

I had The Balvenie 12 last night at Jubans...it's good, but just a tad on the sweet side for my tastes. I think it would make a great drink after dinner!

I guess Makers is convinced that their price is pretty elastic and that a price increase would drive people to alternatives like Beam, Williams, etc. and actually reduce their own sales. An interesting move, cant help but wonder if the rest of the industry will follow suit.

Ok so I recently started drinking bourbon. Today I went into the Kierland Hotel directly across the street from my office for dinner and got a pappy with my burger. I had never had pappy and it seemed VERY cheap, the price not the booze, so I thought I would share the menu with you. Check out the top right...am I crazy or was it VERY cheap??? Shouldn't it be more than Bookers? LINK

I'd think they could up the charge for the PVW15 as it should command more than Bookers.

A restaurant here in Baton Rouge has most, if not all the Pappy for sale. The Lot B starts at $25 and the 23 year old was $65. I don't remember the other prices but $14 is a bargain... Enjoy it while it last...

While I agree it does seem like a bargain in comparison to what other places are charging, it is a fair price. That's the markup most liquors get per glass. Good for the owner of that place not taking people behind the woodshed just because he can. I'd support that guy and his PVW

shite I just looked at the menu . So, he's charging: $10 - Makers, Knob Creek $12 - Buffalo Trace, Bakers, Four Roses, Woodford $14 - PVW 15 yr $15 - Bookers I'm not sure who the hell is in charge of pricing, but that sure is an interesting pricing strategy.

There might not be a lot of bourbon drinkers at his bar and he just might not know how thin supply has gotten. I would expect that once the bottle is gone he will have difficulty finding any more...

Since it's Mardi Gras and I'm stuck at the office I think I'll go buy a new bottle at lunch. Anyone tried the Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve?

It's a bar in one of the nicest resorts in Scottsdale. It's very odd!

Good to hear... Snagged a bottle a few minutes ago. Was between that and Rock Hill farms. I've been wanting a bottle of something a little hotter so at 60% this fits the bill.

Got some congestion going here so I decided to have a little snort of the REAL THING. The Original! Smooth with a good finsh.

I just read this entire damn thread. Don't have much to add on the bourbon front. I think y'all have that covered. I recently found a new favorite scotch. Give Dalmore 12 a try if you see it. Good stuff.

Picked up a bottle of eagle rare and woodford reserve... i guess since im new to this bourbon thing, the eagle was too strong for my taste. I thoroughly enjoyed the woodford though. Keep up the good work fellas.
