I'll go with the painfully obvious answer, Moneyball.

It's not the "best" I've read, but Bootlegger's Boy by Barry Switzer is actually a good book.

Recommended for the 3 or 4 hockey fans on here. Really impressed with the story, as someone who didn't get to see the games at the time.

It's only painfully obvious because it's an incredible book. One of the ten best books I've ever read.

Written by Leigh Montville. If you're going to read a book about Ted Williams, and I've read them all, this is the one. Definitely not sugar coated.

Playing for Pizza by John Grisham and his other book called Bleachers. When I was younger, I enjoyed Matt Christopher books too.

I highly recommend this: Fantastic, light read. I read it in an afternoon and was rolling the entire time. Just great. I also read Ken Burns' "Baseball" back when I was a youngster and thought it was fantastic. I don't know if it holds up, but it was great for exposing a precocious 10-year-old to the greatness and legacy of the game.

My Losing Season- Pat Conroy
Gonna have to order this now. Did not even know it existed. I've read most of Conroy's books and most were written decades ago. Last book I read of his was over 10 years ago. He is my favorite southern author and "The Lord's of Discipline" is one of my favorite books of all time. Favorite sports books I have read: 1. Bo knows Bo 2. In the Arena - Pat Dye 3. Another Season - Gene Stallings

Seasons of Life is a great book - I would highly recommend it. I also liked Bleachers quite a bit.
