re: What's the best sports book you've read?
junction boys and friday night lights are two great ones that i forgot in my first post.

loose balls and heaven is a playground (brooklyn street scene) are really good too. the last shot is similar to heaven is a playground but follows some lincoln high kids (stephon marbury is a freshman and is in the book but it's not really about him) loose balls is about the history of the ABA and is pretty fricking sweet actually.

i really liked everybody's all american.

im pretty sure all of these books are in sports illustrated's top 100 sports books list. and that's because they are all fricking bad ass. literally any of the ones i named are extremely enjoyable.

Scorecasting is first for sure.

Soccernomics
Moneyball
The Boy Who Saved Baseball

Matt Christopher sports books were the tits growing up.

Meursault, sounds like I need to get to Inverting the Pyramid.

Just picked up Eight Men Out. Hope to read that after finals.

Has anyone read Beers and Circus or the Lords of the Rings?

Those two I have yet to find anywhere but I want to see what the IU guy said to criticize Knight, who did way more good than harm at IU. And how JAS cleaned up the Olympics (supposedly)

Hooligans.

It documents the rise of hooliganism in England during the seventies, and the gangs involved.

Dude writing the book wrote it from a Gonzo perspective, even joining in the malays.
