I think it comes to down to stopping their running game.
Tuitt, Nix, and Lewis need to have a big game. They can't rely on Teo.

Plus run the ball. Every good team they've played has run the ball on them.

The hype for this game will be Bama's running game against Notre Dame's front 7, but this will really be about the Irish scoring enough points on offense. They'll hold the Bama offense in check, but I don't know if they can move the ball on Bama.

Pretty much, and ND can do it, but a lot easier said than done. Golson also needs to play well. He doesn't need to be a hero, but he can't have a Michigan-like game.

I think we'll key on the run. I think they need to open up some passing to be able to run successfully.

- Force turnovers
- Force FGs in the redzone
- Run the ball for 100+

ETA: There is no way Notre Dame stops Alabama on the ground.

Throw for 250+ yards. Bama's secondary is their biggest weakness. Throw it deep and throw it often.

The game isn't about Goulston or the ND D it's about Eifert, Riddick, and Atkinson. Bama has to match them, I don't think they can though.

They need to hope food poisoning hits Bama hard the night before the game.

Find some way to hold the ball and play keep away. Long drives with a mix WR- fast screens, jailbreaks RB- slow screens, draws to help slow Bama rush on defense. I would try mixing no huddle and try to keep down line man in stances 25-35 seconds to make them uncomfortable while chasing screens around the field. I swear I'd throw a screen almost every play the first half trying to run them sideline to sideline. I've seen this strategy applied by schools such as Troy playing Florida St. (hot pursuit defenses) and have success.

The best defense could be your offense in a game like this. ND has to limit possessions of Alabama and speed the game clock up.

saban typically is super tight in bowl games, so an early turnover or big play offensively could turn this into a real game

saban likely will try to play this game like the national title last year, where he'll settle for FGs all day knowing that his D will be able to hold the opposing offense

1) Contain running game for 4 quarters
2) Get turnovers
3) Get best performance from offense

I think Notre Dame will stop up Alabama's running game for a half, but then Bama will break them in the second. Notre Dame does not have great special teams, so don't count on that for manufacturing points.

ND will have to score points somehow. They have a pretty good turnover margin. I think if it is going to happen, it will come off turnovers and short fields. That will help out ND's offense tremendously.
