My last washer did something similar, the problem was the the peg on the lid that comes into contact with a sensor that tells the washer the lid is closed was no longer coming into contact with the lid, easy fix removed the rubber bushing from the peg on the lid. May or may not be your problem, but something to try that takes like 30 seconds.

Is it a top loader? If so I bet it's the stays I think they're called.
How old is it?

Yeah top loader. The only reason why I don't think its the magnetic sensor or timer is because it is draining just fine. Going to post a a pic of what I am looking at...

look at all these professional washing machine fellers come out of the walls..
i guess i'm gonna go outside in the front yard and look at mine and see if it has couplers, and stuff..

Yep, pretty sure it's the stays. I tend to overload mine too, but it's cheaper than having a wife.

Where is the motor? (dumb girl question, yes I know)

Do me a favor. Try to spin the agitator both clockwise and then counterclockwise. If it spins both ways it's the stay, period.
I'd come fix it, but gas alone would kill me to Aspen.

Nope, it doesn't move. I took the top off of the agitator but didn't see any type of screw I could loosen.
The basket turns when I manually turn the belt as well. Gotta be motor.

"Aspen", Baton Rouge, same difference.

They have 3 little plastic locks that break if you overload it. It saves the motor or tranny I guess.
this is the correct answer, move the washer and see if there are little plastic shavings on the floor.

No shavings... but found about 10 socks that I have been missing. Only good news from all of this. Sock monster doesn't actually exist.

Did you put woman pressure or manly pressure? J/K
Also, it's not a screw, it's a bolt which you'll need a socket to loosen.
Truthfully, if the agitator doesn't spin in reverse with hand pressure then I'm not sure.
Seems to me that if it's draining and such that the motor is fine.

Mine does this every now and then. Whenever I load too many clothes, it washes, rinses, but doesn't spin. I have to take out some clothes, and manually put the setting to spin for it to continue. Your problem may be different than mine though

That's the website I've been looking at, thank you.
I just don't have the tools to see if it is some of those problems...
May just call a repair place and see how much it is for someone to come and tell me what is wrong. That way, if it is an easy fix I can fix it, and if it's the motor or something pretty expensive, I can just buy a new one.
I would pay about $50 on the off chance it's something easy. And if not, still worth having it looked at.
Thanks for all the advice guys, appreciate it.

With my washer experience, you might as well just buy a new washer. The fixes never last very long.

I would be really surprised if you can get a tech out there for less $50...

Looked up a new transmission for my model and its $180....yuck. Trying to look up price of motor.
Sears has washers for like $350. This is looking better as an option.
Buy a new one. You will have a warranty and the cost of repairs is going to be close to that price.
