I'm only calling out ESPN because they're the only pregame show on right now but why do we need to give coverage to Belcher? He murdered someone. I get he was an NFL'er and the coverage would make sense if he just took his life. When they just went to commercial, the put up his pic and his girlfriend's pic. Makes no sense. Just put hers up if you have to put up a pic. He doesn't deserve it.

Also, if you're the Chiefs, how can you honestly say, "let's win this for Belcher?"

I understand where you are coming from...but whatever happened to him, he obviously had lots of problems as well, and it's a sad situation for all involved.

Good point. Didn't really consider that.

It's a news story that trumps a slate of mostly shitty games. The best games were/are played Thursday and Monday.

But it doesn't surprise me that they are exploiting it.

Same as your local news or ESPN during a scandal. Bad news sells.

Actually I think they've done a good job of not glorifying him but just talking about the situation and how sad it is. I think everyone has done a good job with that. Notice the Cheifs are having a moment of silence for all those affected by the situation and not for Jovan himself. Their official statement also looked very carefully worded

Yea, that's good. I didn't see the statement. The whole situation just sucks. My heart breaks for her little girl.

True. Nobody knows the whole story. He committed a terrible act of domestic violence. If he had only dotted her in the eye their wouldn't be any photos of him, but at least she would still be alive. ESPN stands to look bad if they go to overboard. So do the NFL and the Chiefs if they go too far with "tributes" and shite today at the Chiefs or any other game.

I heard Herm Edwards say his teammates need to play with the same courage on the field that Belcher did. He was basically saying nice things about Belcher and the way he played the game. That's kind of disturbing right after he murders somebody.

Wow.

Crazy. Next will be the Panthers "Rae Carruth Humanitarian Award."

Everybody needs to tread lightly with what they say. It will sound stupid.

I saw that too. That was the only thing that irked me. That and a RIP Jovan picture I saw someone share on facebook.

How could Herm possibly put his name and the word "courage" in the same sentence after what he did? Absolutely sickening.

Exploiting it?! They'd be wrong for not talking about it up front.

Well it does take a bit of courage to kill yourself, but yeah, he's getting too much of the victim treatment here considering he killed someone.

Does it? I don't think I could ever kill myself, but I'm not sure that's because I don't have balls.

Dwayne Bowe tweeted a picture of himself with a Belcher shirt on and said something to the effect of "this one's for you."

Maybe it's just team members way of dealing with HIS death, not the other events of 12/1.

Good God.

Even if it was just a suicide it would be wrong IMO to glorify him.

The fact that he murdered someone... Jesus.
