This. And the sad thing is it's not a parallel universe, it's ours, where quite a few people in this and other threads think it's no big deal. I'd hate to know what level of deviancy it would take to qualify as a big deal to these people.

No, I don't think we do.
Bringing up who was a fan of what school really distracts from what happened here. A grown man with a wife and kid and career decided to pull his scrotum out and rub it on the face of a dude barely out of high school. The fact that this happened in the context of fanhood and a football game is irrelevant.
Is 2 years too much? I can tell you that I probably wouldn't have given him that much time (maybe 30 days) but I'm not going to feign outrage over the sentence that *he* agreed to. It could have been far worse for him.
Also, I do agree that if he had apologized he wouldn't have gotten nailed by the court. I actually believe that if he had manned up, sought out the victim and apologized, the victim might have decided not to press chargers.
But he didn't. In fact, he's offered no apology to this day. It shows you what kind of person the tea bagger is.
