Yea, most coaches wreck shite when they're starting a Runningback at QB and is playing 16 True Freshman.

Patterson sucks.

wonder if that is the same tigerbait that trolls our radio station. We would offer Les but unfortunately for you all he is not our 1,2,3 or 4th choice.

Bo Mattingly ?@SportsTalkwBo Roussel: I anticipate that Jeff Long is going to offer the job to Gary Patterson.

...i just pulled up the bo mattingly show online and listened to today's archived spot with pete roussel of coachingsearch.com, and i have to say, roussel's reasoning is rock solid. it will be of no surprise if roussel is dead on with his statement that patterson will be the next coach of the razorbacks.

the fact that patterson has ample head coaching experience, a solid staff, is defensive minded, an all out offensive scheme, and the fact he has such solid recruiting ties in texas, especially in the dallas/ft.worth metroplex, which is an area that is arkansas' #1 recruiting target outside of state lines, makes patterson a great candidate.

patterson would be an excellent choice.

it would cost every bit of 6 mil a year to get him from fort worth.

i would prefer gundy but no one in their right mind would call this anything other than a home run hire.

WTF? Because I don't think Patterson is the '6 million dollar man?'

JMHO, but I think he's 5 at tops, and that's kind of pushing it.

Not a Shields alter.

He'd be making a mistake to take that job IMO.

patterson has had a shot at other big time jobs in the past. why would he pull the trigger on the ark job? not trying to flame.

For an LSU standpoint, I hope not. I really think that Patterson is an outstanding coach. I personally think he will stay at TCU; he is making good money with a lot less pressure.

becuase if we are offering him, there is no doubt in my mind we are offering him to make him the highest paid coach in college football, 6 mil per at least. that tends to make a difference

that and with the alcoholic QB and the drug bust i think he is starting to somewhat wear out his welcome in Fort Worth.

sometimes people just need a change. 10 years really is about the most i believe a coach should stay at one place it gets old after that

He won't be highest paid because Stoops and Saban have it written in contracts they must be. He will be top 10, if, and big if, he's the guy.

Sometimes I wonder if these schools know what kind of coach they need. If you are a school with a ton of talent in your backyard you either want a guy who can kill it with Xs and Os or a guy that connects well enough with players to be a great motivater, because you don't need a recruiter when talent falls in your lap. (Looking at you USC.) But if you are in the SEC and in a lesser state when it comes to recruiting (Arkansas, Tennessee) you want to hire a recruiting guru first and foremost.

I respect Patterson a lot, and once in a while he has gotten a recruiting skin on the wall. But he is a much better developer of talent than a recruiter of talent. I put him in the same category as Tuberville. That is not that kind of coach Arkansas needs. Pete Carroll is the type of coach Arkansas needs.

Edit: although, I will say putting Patterson together with an excellent recruiting assistant under him could make for an excellent hire overall.
