What is a grid extender? I can't find it on the BGE website.

What happens with the dripping when using a placesetter? Any cleaning involved?

I don't clean the plate setter. I might scrape it from time to time of any black stuff, but I don't really clean it otherwise.

Buy a set of lodge leather cooking gloves.. After you get done cooking turn the plate setter upside down and burn off anything that dripped.
