Please tell me you use Pmags. I know the AR10s are a bit more magazine picky than AR15s.

I use the factory mags that came with the rifle. If this were a self defense choice, I'd probably be using P-mags (like I have in my AR-15's)

Never yet had a single problem with feeding, firing, extracting or ejecting using the DPMS factory mags. This may be partly attributable to the ammo -- Hornady SST (very accurate with very reliable penetration//expansion)..

How explosive are these targets

We completely destroyed an old metal gas can and launched another one well over a hundred feet with just 1 pound. I can only imagine what 10lbs would do. I figure the percussion alone will stun them enough to be able to walk up to them and finish the job.

Hmm...would it work to set out a grill sized propane tank in the bait pile and shoot it with an .06 or .338 or something similar? Or is doing anything like this to eradicate the hogs even legal??? I'm assuming the propane tank would explode? Gonna hafta watch the upcoming episode of Sons of Guns and Mythbusters to find out, I guess.

Agreed. My dad handloads this in about 3 different calibers for deer hunting. It works like a charm.

Also, Smackoverhog, the R25 .308 is pretty much identical to the DPMS LR308 except with a camouflage finish. If the price is a lot more, I would consider just getting the LR308. Both use AR10 parts and if my facts are correct, DPMS uses Remington barrels, so accuracy will be similar.

Not real well, unless you fill it with the proper acetylene/O2 mix.

Will do. Never had a DPMS. The Remington is quite a bit more. Wasn't sure about the quality of DPMS. Have several friends in LE and they've been pleased with their's. I couldn't care less about the camo finish. I'll be doing most of my damage at night. We are infested with "educated" hogs. They're hard to trap. They will also swim the river and our duck hole to avoid dogs. So I'm going hi-tech on their asses.

My suggestion would be to hop on Budsgunshop.com and check out the reviews on each. The DPMS I would suggest is the LR308-AP4, which is their 16" version. The AR10 platform is inherently heavy so the shorter barrel would probably be best for you. The R25 .308 reviews I read said it's lightweight, so that may be the niche of the R25. Regardless, both seem like good rifles, so whatever you go with should suit you just fine.

Also, stay away from the crappy factory magazines. Get some Pmags and your troubles will end, even if they never began.

EDIT: Both will put a hurtin' on some hogs. .308 hits so much harder than .223. They'll be DRT.

I just got a bunch of Pmags and new guns at an auction Saturday. A local gun dealer passed and they were selling off his inventory. Weren't many deals to be found on guns, but got quite a bit of cheap ammo and accessories.

Well the Pmags for .308 will be larger (but I'm sure you knew that). If you see a good deal on the .308 ones, load up on them.

22-250 .223 .243 all neck shots drops them where they stand. But if you want to have fun stick a few with your bow its great practice for hitting moving targets.

I think these are all .223/5.56. I had to a buy all of them and haven't been through them yet. Hoping some are .308. Bought a few boxes of random stuff I gotta go through. Did get one pearl. A 1970's Browning Hi-Power in the box never shot. Was in a box of empty cases and laser grips. bought the whole lot for $500. Had 15 crimson trace laser grips in it too.

What you said or a semi automatic rifle. Also wait around after the shot(s) they sometimes come back.
