Commanders is one of my favorite places to eat, can't miss with the turtle soup and bread pudding soufflé. There are some good reviews with recommendations in the dining guide.

Commander's: EVERYTHING, but especially the turtle soup. I have to get a bowl every time I go.

Delmonico: Considering it is Emeril's "steakhouse", I normally would tell you to get a steak, but I honestly wasn't all that impressed with it the one time I went. The crispy pork cheek appetizer is awesome though. My fiacee had the duck and my Mom had the drum. Both were exceptionally well executed IMO.

I have a hard time passing up the Shrimp Henican app at Commander's. It's very good.

Friends of mine were there Friday night. I recall they had the turtle soup, soft shell crab and pecan crusted drum. They thought everything was excellent. You really can't go wrong.

Commander's is just solid. Turtle soup is really good. I usually get the soup 1-1-1 where you get gumbo, turtle soup, and the soup of the day. They didn't have it on the menu last time we were there but they did it for us anyway. So you can ask them.

The prime dry aged strip at Delmonico is the best steak I've ever had.

EVERYTHING,

dont get the steak or rack of lamb, those are for people that dont know shite about nola food.

i would highly recommend going for brunch. brunch is much better than dinner imo. The quail is good, all the soup is awesome, any fish you get is going to be awesome

I was at Commander's last week.

I highly recommend the duck, getting the 1-1-1 soup sampler, they had a butternut squash soup that was freaking awesome, and the souffle.

The pecan crusted drum was ok.

I've always thought Commanders was overpriced for what you get. Everything is super rich and often pretty muddled. You can get the same style of food at K Paul's or even Joey K's. I enjoy a more progressive, clean flavored menu. That being said the turtle soup is good as long as you tell them to go easy on the sherry and the shrimp dish is solid. Service is too over the top attentive for my taste and the wines that are affordable aren't very good.

We ate at Delmonico's Friday night. It was pretty damn amazing. Had a table of 9 guys, walked in told them to feed us and that we didn't want to see a menu or anything. They asked 3 or 4 four courses outside of the dessert, we said three. Asked for a couple of bottles of Opus and we were off. They brought out so much shite it was unreal. Some hoghead type cheese they called a tourine or something was the best. I love cured meats too, so I tried them all.

R2R,

Have always felt that ever dish at Commanders has one, if not two or three, too many elements on the plate. The desire to throw a coffee gastrique, pickled crawfish, and fried garlic chips so that it makes every dish "over the top" often just causes a confusing dish.

It's hard to go to New Orleans and order a steak but this one is very hard to pass up. It's a great steak and a strip is by far my favorite cut to begin with. I've had it several times and never a let down.

Glad you had some good meals.
