Can this be bought at Winn Dixie or Albertson's, or do I need to go to Whole Foods?

Buy coconut, put a nail through all(generally three) of the little eyes on the exterior, place into the top a glass and drain completely.

Most groceries will have them in the Asian section. The Asian marts have a smaller 5.6 oz can, which is perfect when I just need a little bit to smooth out a sauce.

Yea, my wife made a red curry/coconut milk/lemongrass chicken stir fry dish last night and that milk was way thicker than I thought. It actually had some body to it, weird.

If you're new to using it, give the unopened can a shake or a stir after its opened because it tends to separate, and if you're at all health conscious, don't look at the amount of saturated fat on the label.

We used boneless skinless thighs instead. We find them on a whole other level than breasts in this sort of application. The wife's turned out way better looking than the image for the recipe. Good stuff though.

Now that recipe makes me hungry. I like it spicy so I'd add some heat with a chile pepper or something. I bookmarked it.

Yum, that looks good--where do you buy lemongrass?

Wife ate the leftovers tonight and the coconut milk and curry smells together are amazing. She said she spiced it with pepper seeds.
I bought her a wok about ten years ago from The Wok Shop in San Francisco and the damn thing is golden now. Shipped for cheap.

Nice...
I have an inexpensive wok somewhere. I need to dust it off and try some new things.

You can get fresh lemongrass at the Vietnamese markets on Florida Boulevard

You can also grow lemongrass here. I'm going to plant some in the spring.
