Good topic. I left Nola late Monday night to BR, everyone is just on edge down there. I'm guessing places will close Tuesday and Wednesday. I haven't seen any restaurant post any updates on hours or bragging that they have a generator on facebook.

I would think if they did, it would be to keep the coolers working. Loosing a ton of money in spoilage doesn't do your bottmline good. As to place to eat I would suggest a hospital cafeteria as an option.

We are open today for sure (possibly tonight) at Mansurs. Definitely closed all day tomorrow and hoping to reopen early Thursday pending power/weather conditions. Heard parrains had one yesterday.

Not sure if they have a generator, but Walk On's (N.O.) just tweeted that they will be open all day. Also, Buffa's on Esplanade has a generator and plans to be open its normal 24/7 routine.

I know hospitals and some other public facilities serving food have generators, but I've just never thought about or noticed restaurants with them. I would think they would have one at least to operate coolers. As CIT said, you could lose a lot of food and your bottom line. Living in these parts, if I owned a restaurant, I'd give a good generator some serious thought. Same if I owned a food /grocery/meat market or a pharmacy. Being the only game in town or one of the few could be profitable in addition to cutting losses on food even if you're not able to open immediately.

After Gustav they were 1 of the only places open serving food. Ate damn near every meal there while we were out of electricity.
