The kingsguard is sworn to protect and obey the king's family - that includes the prince, the prince's girlfriend, and the prince's bastards.

If Prince Rheagar gave the kingsguard an order to protect Lyanna and her child, they would be sworn to do so with their lives.

Yeah, but why did crazy paranoid Aerys let them go? His orders would supercede Rhaegar.

Per Rhaegar's last conversation with Jaime it sounds like he was the one running things re. the Kingsguard.

Their orders were to get Rhaegar, which they did. They then got new orders from Rhaegar, he left 3 at the Tower of Joy; took 3 to the Trident.

Those are great, but these are the best lines in the books:

quote:

My son Wendel came to the the Twins a guest. He ate Lord Walder's bread and salt, and hung his sword upon the wall to feast with friends. And they murdered him. Murdered, I say, and may the Freys choke upon their fables. I drink with Jared, jape with Symond, promise Rhaegar the hand of my own beloved granddaughter ... but never think that means I have forgotten. The north remembers, Lord Davos. The north remembers, and the mummer’s farce is almost done. My son is home.[14]

That shite got me so pumped

The kingsguard were in the field following Rheagar's order, as he was leading the army. The only kingsguard held back was Jaime, which was at the command of crazy paranoid Aerys to keep Tywin in check (oops).

yeah, I really loved that part, one of the best chapters in that book.

Then the "he would have grown up a Frey" line is classic as well

Dude...you gotta think about their reactions to finding out the dragons hatched - they shite themselves, I bet. She and Viserys were little more than loose ends until then. They weren't after them as in to possess them, but having dragons changes war- brings it to a whole new level. I don't see how that argument could be weak in any way.

Yes, I agree that Faegon was plan A all the way...but the bitch hatching dragons made them hedge their bet at least.

Yeah its interesting how the dragons will play into their plans. It could expose Aegon as a fake if he is incapable of controlling them. Also Varys has said that he hates magic, so I wonder if he'll actually be opposed to the dragons or will try and use them. Then again, with Varys you never know what's a lie and what isn't.

He could still have blood of the dragon even if he isn't Rhaegar's son.
