I'll be finishing the bomber of Ballast Point Dorado DIPA I opened Tuesday and debating whether or not to open the Firestone Walker Double Jack I have

Great Beer. I brought a couple of bombers back from Denver.

Do it.

I have some Austin Beerworks IPA, Three Floyds Dreadnaught, Three Floyds Apocalypse Cow, and I'll probably pull another one out too... not sure what else I have.

Also a Three Floyds Blackheart English IPA... brought them all back from Indy three weeks ago so they are fresh enough.

Stone Ruination 10th.

I know IPA's aren't really supposed to be aged, but, well, would this one be an ager?

I'll have to go to the Karbach Rodeo Clown DIPAs to celebrate.

It could be... I haven't tried it yet. Typically the higher ABV and more malt backbone there is the better they age.

Some stuff like DFH 120 Minute ages very well.

IPAs aren't best to age.

In fact some breweries are listing on the bottle that you shouldn't age this beer.

I'm somewhat unprepared being that I didn't know there was an ipa day.

Gonna have to go home and celebrate with some Hoptimum and Green Flash west coast ipa.

I don't like IPA's. They taste funny to me (like a gym sock). I really like white beers, wheat beers, blonde ales and belgian style ales. Am I weak sauce? I feel like I'm missing out on something or need to "break-in" my palette. Please suggest some IPA's for newb to try and if the glass type/temp makes a difference.

Where are you and what's available?

Glass type doesn't make a huge difference, but glass temperature will. Room temperature glass, and preferably the beer in the 40-45 range. If you pour it ice cold into a cold glass your taste buds will never pick up all the hop flavors.

I'm in Covington, LA. Aquistipace has a pretty comprehensive craft beer selection with build your own 6-packs. What are some less hoppy IPA's I could start with.

Instead of starting with an IPA, start with an American Pale Ale. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale would be a good start.

This is a good call.

Stone Pale Ale also, then maybe move on to the Sierra Nevada Torpedo and Stone IPA.

Clown Shoes Miracle IPA is new to LA and quite good, Bear Republic Racer 5 is another good one to try out.

I'm not a hophead either, but do enjoy a good mild pale ale such as Shiner's Wild Hare and Dale's Pale Ale.
