You think Weiser steps in as left back?

Well I think if lahm doesn't get moved to LB then Weiser will step up. If lahm does then I think Weiser will play RB. I rate contento as not that impressive right now, he's young and Bavarian. But I'm not sure he can handle the work load. I'm convinced of weiser's quality. Also Can was tried at RB last match and every report I've heard was that will NEVER happen again haha

I have a feeling Lahm will be at left back, but I think that rb will be a platoon position unless someone really steps up.

I'm with you on Contendo

I agree it will probably end up being a RB by commission but I think if anyone were to step up itd be Weiser. Good thing about all this is none of those guys will miss many BL games. Rafinha is not the type of guy to be relied on at the back but he loves getting forward and is quite well at it in my opinion. We will just have to see how it turns out. I always forget how inevitable injuries are.

Yeah no doubt.

I've been wondering if we could see boateng at RB this season. That way Dante could be a starter and our back line would be:

Lahm-----Dante------Badstuber-----Boateng

Boateng is much better at CB. I think Lahm is better at right back too, especially when Robben is on that side.

I wanna see Weiser in real action. Markoutz looks like a good prospect too.

Austrian/German national team.

BVB is the Polish/German team.

In a pinch that would be an ample backline, but I don't prefer boateng on the outside. I'm not sure how good Dante is goin to be. I've read some mixed reviews about how he looks in preseason. I'm just ready to see some real games.

For fun anyone want to predict any new starters by midseason? I say midseason bc it'll take these guys some time to earn a spot.
I'll take shaq as my lock to start, Weiser is my David Alaba of last year, and I think mandzo or markoutz will earn a second striker spot on the field. Unsure of Dante, so I'll keep the backline as is from last season for now.

So you're sacrificing Robben or Ribery?

Weiser is an obvious choice for top newcomer, but I think Gomez could have his hands full with Mandzukic in the long run.

The defense is the key though, if we can figure out a solid back 4, or at least a good rotation, this season will be very good for us.

Shaq has been playing the number 10 role in the preseason. He does it really well. I would like to see him there and have Kroos play a lot more holding midfielder. Plus, Robben will be injured within a month, so we'll see how that shapes everything.

Agree all around, and like HH said he's been playing the #10 role by all accounts very well this preseason. I'd sacrifice müller/Kroos and like HH also mentioned robben is a lock and a half to get injured for at least 2 months. I really like Ribery, he loves the city and club. When he's on form there's really no stopping him, he's awesome. Back 4 will always be key though. No one questions the quality of the attackers.

Jupp is the bundesliga's Kelvin Sampson
Edited to add: our thread is still the best season long thread besides the bastian one. We have great fan chemistry, wish there were more fcb supporters than us 4 haha

People will soon see the light. Once we shed the Buffalo Bills cloak, we'll rise again.

Boateng is a pretty good rb defensively - though he is better at cb.

Where he is not as good is on the offensive end. With robben and ribbery prone to going inside so much the rb and lb need to be able to go wide and cross the ball and provide some offensive presence. He is serviceable here but not an asset.

Lahm is just awesome no matter what he does.

I wasn't really sure if Jupp was going to carry this over or play him wide. I love Kroos as a holding midfielder regardless though, his long passing is great, he just has to take care of defensive responsibilities.

I know most fans are beginning to loath Robben, but I have been a huge fan of him since I first saw him play in the Batman and Robben duo at PSV. So I'm hoping for a miracle season with no injuries.

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike Robben at all. I'm just being realistic about his injuries.

New Rumor: Nigel de Jong for around 10mm. Apparently Bayern wants to have an all redcard midfield.

Honestly I fricking HATE him. I will be so pissed if we buy van bommels understudy. Let's keep Gustavo as our only destroyer, he's plenty good at it
