As large and uncoordinated looking as he is, he's actually not THAT slow. Probably faster than most German cb's who seem to have a piano on their back.

Mainly DvB though...my 5 year old nephew is faster than him.

We beat those fricks from Kaiserslautern today 3-2. Goals from müller, can and shaq. Don't like the 2 conceded goals but I haven't seen lineups or highlights yet so idk what happened.

"the customary 4-2-3-1 starting line-up favoured by Heynckes was packed with star names, with Manuel Neuer keeping goal behind a back four of Philipp Lahm, Daniel van Buyten, Holger Badstuber and Luiz Gustavo. Anatoliy Tymoshchuk and Toni Kroos lined up in defensive midfield, with Arjen Robben, Müller and Xherdan Shaqiri forming an offensive trident behind striker Mario Gomez."

From what I can tell Robben had a really good game, as well as Shaq. Gomez had a couple shots hit the post.

Lost in the liga total cup semis to Bremen on penalties today. Basti missed another. I didn't get to watch, but reports I'm reading is that it was pretty much a shite performance. Can scored but he has really struggled this preseason, looks like he'll be back in reserves shortly. Shaq came off at half, but was MOTM according to most. He also scored. Kroos has been bossing the midfield pretty well and bastian needs to elevate his game.

I guess things were reminiscent of last season, horrid defending on set pieces an lack of concentration at the back. Boateng is taking decent flak after today. Sucks even contento is hurt now.

Dortmund this week, would've played them tomorrow if we won today. I don't have a good feeling about playing them right now.

I think a transfer is in order before the season starts or at least before the window closes.

Bayern lineup v HSV: Starke - Can, van Buyten, Dante, Lahm - Tymoshchuk, Schweinsteiger - Weiser, Shaqiri, Ribery - Mandzukic

Gomez is not in the squad, looks like that nick he picked up the other day is decently serious ( I've heard he's out 3 months) . This is the worst fricking preseason ever. At least we bought more strikers.

Schweini had to leave the pitch with the same ankle injury. God damn it this blows arse hole.

Weiser scored in the 25th, we won the elusive 3rd place in this 60 min tournament. I'm kind of pissed about all our injuries. What in the frick is going on

It's been a terrible preseason. The board needs to make a big signing. No way do we overtake BVB like this

Agree, I'm usually not one to blame the coach for everything, but IMO things have gotten a BIT stale under jupp. Idk who's fault that is, but I'd venture to say it's the man who refuses to change the lineup under any circumstance.

What is the answer? Javi Martinez? Idk I think we need some creativity in the team, but I won't lie and say defense doesn't scare me a lot, especially on set pieces.

Edit: sammer will kill someone if we don't win the BL this year. Would probably kill 3 or 4 if Dortmund win the domestic double again.

I know it's only preseason but I'm pretty worried right now. Definitely don't think we are going to beat bvb next weekend

Javi for 40mm? No way is that fee reasonable. I'd try to swoop for Nuri Sahin since Real doesn't really plan on using him. I'd bet he goes for less than 20mm. Then you have flexibility to do more stuff.

That doesn't seem likely, so if Javi does come in, I'll be happy to have him but I think they could have been more creative with the money. They need to do something though, if Schweini is injured then we're going to fall pretty far behind.

Not for 40m I dont think that's good business, but just in general, how much better would he make us? Yeah sahin would be a good get, basti's injury isn't a serious one just a nagging one that jupp didn't feel it worth playing through. I think that he should rest until healthy, however long that is. Don't want this to ruin his future.
Gomez is having surgery, I really don't think we'll see a production drop off up top, he's good but I feel like he profits immensely from our wing play. I suppose we'll find out real soon how valuable he is.

Mandzu and Pizza will be able to handle the striker duties.

Schweini needs to sit for a month or two because that ankle injury isn't just going to go away.

Javi's versatility is his biggest asset. I haven't seen him enough to know if he's going to improve the team greatly but I know that we need a center mid and a center back.

Maybe these injuries will force jupp to make a goddamn formation change

The board needs to stop hiring old stubborn coaches. Jupp is a good coach but he's 67 years old. He isn't about to start re-inventing the game.

That's a good point, idk why but I love the romanticism of hiring a former player. Don't know if any former players would be candidates, but that was more of a general statement. I'd like a guy like Brendan Rodgers, but more than anything I want to hire a proven winner. Be it when they played or coached even if it wasn't at the highest level. Just want someone who knows how to win, jupp is a winner, but like I said things just seem a little stale around the club

I would like to see Bayern's next choice be someone who is young and coming up. I just don't want the club to become old and boring. The style of play already gets boring some times because they seem more worried with keeping the ball than trying to score.

We need to start integrating young players and new, faster paced tactics. Ribery and Robben could be really entertaining in an attacking style.

I'd like to see a 3-4-2-1 with Lahm and Alaba playing as wingback/midfielders. Kind of like what Napoli played.

-------------------- Neuer --------------------------

------Boateng -- Badstuber -- Dante --------

Lahm ---- Schweiny -- Gustavo ----- Alaba

--------------- Ribery --- Robben --------------

----------------------- Gomez --------------------

It's still a pretty defensive lineup, but it sets up very well for the counter attack and it takes defensive responsibilities away from Robben/Ribery

That's interesting, I like it. Only qualm I have with it is I really want shaq to be on the field and I'm not sure where he'd fit in there. He's really asserting himself in the CAM role, I think he might actually start from week 1. I think he could play that spot where Alaba is and possibly have Alaba in either Dante's or boatengs spot.

I'm still not sure what my starting XI would be yet.

Well I think there should be a solid rotation of players. He could play one of the forward roles like Hamsik did. I don't think it would be an every game option, but I think it could work against teams like Dortmund.

Yeah whatever it is we do against Dortmund it needs to be different than the last 5 times, fricking embarassing. These injuries are really no beuno, we have to start out on the right foot if we are going to win the BL. It's very much their trophy to lose in my mind, they won last two years. Lost a very good player in kagawa, but also added, what some call "best player in the BL" last season. If FIFA doesn't give them more love in FIFA 13 I'm boycotting

I love Kagawa but Reus is a better player than he is. I think Schalke is going to be good next year too. If Bayern doesn't get it together, it could get dicey for us. 3rd place isn't out of the realm of possibility. I don't think Gladbach can jump us but you never know there either.
