I'm a charcoal man, love the flavor, but in our next house, I'll have a built in dual set up. Sometimes you just can't beat the quickness of gas. Yeah, you can just cook it inside, but we're planning on having a full outdoor kitchen and pool, so I'd want to stay outside. I guess time wouldn't be an issue in that case, but I'd still like to have the option.

If I was doing a built in combo, it would probably be a decent gas grill and an egg
Built ins are more expensive anyway, so might as well make it an egg IMO

I hate those. One of my best friends is a wrestler, used to wrestle for WWF, WCW, and a couple more. He loves to give me a chop every once in a while.

My gas grill is now nothing more than a place to store charcoal for my Weber. I'll never do gas again. If it's worth cooking outside, it's worth doing right.

I have one of each. I use the gas for small/ quick grilling, charcoal for more food/ larger cuts, and yes there is a difference in taste.

Crocka, Where did you purchase that grill?

Have both and I love both.
Charcoal grill I built myself 20 years ago and it does a great job. Smoked briskit and chickens on Saturday.
Bought a weber Q gas grill 2 years ago and I love it.
Use the gas grill 3-4 times a week on week nights usually.
Its great for burgers, chops, veggies, sausage ect.

I have a double pit. One side gas and the other charcoal.
Gas does a great job on steaks, once you learn how to cook on them.

because there are gas grill items, and there are coal/wood items. I will never cook a steak over charcoal again unless I'm camping. Same for burgers, dogs, brats, sausage or chicken breasts
I use charcoal only. Never ha a good gas grill so mine always flares up an burned.

Gas FTW
If you know how to cook with a gas grill, you can do a myriad of things with it.

I had gas in the past. I use a Weber now and prefer the flavor.
The advantages to gas are start-up time and temp control.
Chargriller makes a grill with gas on one side and charcoal on the other. You can even smoke with it if you use coals on one side and put meat on the other. That may be a good compromise.
Edit: I must have seen the one kroaka has. I was thinking about upgrading to it after I build a deck behind the condo.

May I ask why? I have yet to have a better steak than a filet from a big green egg or primos. No way you can get as hot a sear or an even a cooking on a gas grill as you can on a ceramic. now if you are a cast iron skillet kind of person i can understand.

I would not be able to fit enough meat on that thing..
I like my charcoal grill/smoker and want nothing else.
But I also love my Weber Q grill..
Besides, Let me see you drag that BGE out to the back nine at Tiger Stadium for tailgating.... Game-set-match
