Talking to a scout friend of mine, Sewald is not very effective without a long rest between games pitched. Yesterday he was only hitting 86-88 with his fastball, earlier this year the same scout had him in a game 93-96. That said I'm expecting to see him start against Gibbs if the Jays win......these coaches don't care about the kids futures.

They would have some nerve to make the call on that. Maybe they can come to a gentleman's agreement not to throw either?

Has the Jesuit game started?

If so, score/inning update?

If not, what time is first pitch?

pretty sure that can be said for a vast majority of starting pitchers.

There is a pretty long list of guys who successfully pitched 2 games in the state tournament in the last 10-15 years.

Their careers after that were pretty much nonexistent. Funny it's the same teams remaining who are famous for it... Jesuit, Barbe, and Rummel.

Yea, remember that battle between Sean West and Beau Jones? Both were first rounders. West has had a cup of coffee but hasn't done anything of note and Jones has peaked in AAA.

Yep.

Both of their careers will have come full circle.. Peaked at Zephyr field in HS and ended in AAA at Zephyrs.

Rummel coach Monica will only use Sewald in relief for an inning or less. Rummel has other options rather than use a kid who, as you say, lost 8-10 mph without enough rest.

Oh well. Jesuit lost a bunch of starters from last years title team, so i was surprised they even made it to the semis.

I'll pull for rummel tomorrow

Well in Rummel's case, you're talking out of your arse. Outside of the Jesuit game earlier this, Rummel has done nothing of the sort.

Did you read what I wrote? I was talking about a pitcher starting 2 games in state tournament.

Tim Nugent, Martin Larocca, Thomas Diamond, Ray Liotta all got 2 starts under Cazeaux, off the top of my head.
