This is when the ring I received from Louisiana State University A&M would have left a permanent imprint on her and a few others foreheads. I should have gotten it fitted to wear on my middle finger.
Y'all see hate from places like laffy and Ruston....I get it more from the small town I grew up in that only produces LSUa, LSUe, or Mcneese grads. After the BCSNC I had to clean my FB friends list out.

Those diehard UL fans make me sick. I got boo'd by the entire student section this past fall for wearing an lsu hat. It was quite the episode, easily 300 students in the area.
This is the crux of the issue. LSU and ULL are not rivals. Why does ULL care about LSU so much? If somebody wears a ULL hat into the LSU student section, they will get about as much attention as someone wearing a Michigan or Miami hat, which is nothing at all. If somebody wore an Alabama or Ole Miss hat, they'd probably get "Tiger Baited", but not much else.
ULL needs worry more about the Gus Bus at Arkansas State and less about LSU.

This school should instead be focused on a major conference such as the Big 12 for example.

Try calling them Lafayette. That really pisses them off.
I did. After having my ULL corrected to UL, I asked if his school's name had been changed yet again....to the University of Lafayette.
It made his face all red again.

They won a bowl game, so now they should have BCS conferences banging down their door.
Never mind that they played another mid-major from the West Coast that came to New Orleans for the party. Meanwhile ULL got to play in their homestate in front of a huge home crowd advantage. (I factored that in when making bowl picks, I went with the Cajuns!!!)

Wow, that thread is a joke.

I've said this before, but there are pockets of people all over the state that hate LSU for some reason or another
It's funny you say that b/c Coach Berry at ULM was talking to the News-Star and complained about seeing fans at the ULM football games wearing LSU shirts. He said if they want to see LSU play they need to drive to BR. It's from this past season but I'll try and find the article to link it.

It's just funny that college towns can't have pride in their schools because this is an "LSU state" ... for frick's sake get over yourselves.

it doesn't really bother me at all, but when someone from one of these fanbases tries to piss me off, I typically just gingerly say something like "well, I hate to hear that you guys dislike LSU so much, we regularly pull for you...we always kinda look at your team like our little brothers...we enjoy beating the shite out of yall, but don't really want any other team to do it"...

it pisses them off even more that we will play tulane, mcneese, southern, and even nichols in baseball on the road but not ull

Nobody is advocating that point of view. Please stop jumping to rediculous conclusions.

That's not the issue at hand here. No LSU fan expects Lafayette not to support and have pride in ULL; that would be asinine. But, it's pretty well known that no other school in this State has the hatred for LSU some ULL fans have (Tulane included). It's not enough for them to support ULL, but they must attack and belittle LSU in the same breath.
By and large, is this an LSU state? Yes. Does that mean I expect to hear "Geaux Tigers" from every resident? No. But then again I don't expect the venom from ULL fans they always throw our way.
Maybe those ULL fans who have such a problem with LSU should "get over themselves."

Now that I think of it I have seen quite a few more bama t shirts, hats and bumper stickers around the Lafayette area.
Not an outrageous amount, but more than I noticed years ago.
I enjoy when any team beats Notre Lame or USC, but I am not going to go out and buy a t shirt or hat when they do.

I think it's hard for other Tiger fans to really understand how much ULL fans really get off to busting Tiger fans' balls over the BCS NC game. I relocated here about a year ago and have had family living in the area for quite some time, so I think I can better explain what's irritating fellow fans in the area.
Despite what they may say, ULL does in fact think there's some sort of rivalry in play between them and LSU. Mind you, these ULLers are usually students or younger guys who buy into the idea that "the rivalry" is the same as the UT/A&M rivalry.
Now before some ULLer jumps my case for making such a large statement, I'm speaking more on the idea that it's believed that big brother (LSU) has held down little brother (ULL). I've heard the Huey P Long tear jerking stories about how LSU is in the position that they're in only because ULL was held from reaching its full potential.
As for the "couldn't get in, therefore I hate LSU" argument, it's not too far off from the truth. It's not necessarily that someone couldn't get into LSU, it's more of a financial decision usually made easier by the fact that all of one's friends and family are here, why move.... better yet, why change? A lot of Lafayette natives think the world of their town, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just that very few leave for good or leave for an extended period to have something to compare Lafayette to. It's just a simple case of the small town blues.
From what I've noticed, most kids that go to LSU from Lafayette usually went to stm. Therefore going to LSU is seen as an elitist thing to do I guess, which can't be argued due to a lot of the showy ways of Lafayette, just look at river ranch haha.
All in all, it's more or less a cultural thing. Lafayetters and ULLers alike think the world of their town and school and some seem to not like being reminded of the real world they live in.

So, you live in Laffy and go to ULL. Are you honestly saying that there is no abnormal hatred by ULL fans against LSU, and everyone in here is making all this shite up?

In your opinion. Some people may not feel that way.
