According to veteran recruiting analyst Ron Briscoe:

quote:

Coach Kirby is close to the Brown-Pollard family… He recruited Devonta while at Georgetown before he left to take the Assistant Coaching job with his friend and now Head LSU Basketball Coach Johnny “The Bullet” Jones… He was introduce as LSU Assistant Coach by Coach Jones officially on Tuesday.

Not going to get my hopes up but if JJ can get this cat this late in the game then this might turn out to be a GREAT hire in the making. HE is on fire on the recruiting trail just weeks into the job. Cant wait to see what he does with the 2013 and 2014 guys

Right now, LSU is on the outside looking in, but they have an ace in their hand with the hiring of master recruiter Robert Kirby.

Is there any point to the spring signing period ending May 16?

The only thing that matters is that you can't sign a letter-of-intent. You can sign non-binding scholarship papers, and just enroll in school.

Little known fact: you don't have to sign at all, and the big prospects are starting to do just that. Keeps all their options open.

Its nice to see this in an article to some what confirm all of the specultation. Amazing job by the current staff te even get him to consider lsu this late in the game. This COULD potential be a really nice class.

man...a Pollard-Odoh coup would have JJ winning immediately. No rebuilding process. That would give him instant credibility and really set a good tone for the new regime.

Ole Ron Briscoe, grew up going to his bball camps at Red's health club in Lafayette. Nice guy, very knowledgable of the game.

Although I'm trying not to get my hopes up, this would be quite the feat if Jones and company could pull of the signing of Pollard. Regardless, Jones has generated early excitement that I didn't think was possible.
