I agree. This is completely ridiculous and we should beat the shite out of them on March 31st and never schedule them again for any sport. It's not like we need them. We can find a directional nobody to beat from anywhere. No sense in giving them a payday.

Nothing would happen with a tampering charge. I just think UNT wants something, even if it's an apology from Jones for leaving them or an autographed picture of Shaq or whatever else.

LSU doesn't have to threaten them. They don't have to say anything at all. LSU can just not schedule them for any sports and not comment on it at all. I don't think any LSU fans care if we ever play UNT again in any sport.

This x 100

Aleva needs to call UNT and say, "Hey, are y'all seriously not going to release Odah to us?" "Really? Ok, we'll see you in September for the football game. I'll make sure to say hi because I have a feeling we won't be seeing each other after that for a looooong time. Have a good day."

Yeah. I remember when everyone on the Rant wanted to restrict Morgan from going to UCLA. It usually happens in conference or for certain rivals. Not random schools.

LSU is not a random school.

Restricting a transfer to a school that your former coach just left you for is probably the most reasonable restriction that exists.

If you don't think that is reasonable, then you probably don't think any kind of restriction is reasonable.

It sucks for LSU (assuming Jones really wants him), but if a coach left us for another school, I would certainly want to restrict any transfers (incoming freshman and/or current players) from following him to that school.

From what perspective? The jaded school? Sure. But from the players perspective, restricting the kid to follow the coach he committed to play for, it makes no sense at all.

We can kid ourselves all we want but this isn't football and people commit to the coach, not the program for the most part. There are always those Malik Morgans, but more often than not, the kid went there because of the relationship with the coach.

It's only reasonable to me when the school is in the same conference. Outside of that, it doesn't make any sense to me.

Did we restrict Turner's release?

The terms of his release haven't been made public. My guess is that he wants to play at N.C. State, because he knows Gottfried from his time at Alabama. I wouldn't be surprised if that is the only visit he makes.

We aren't in their conference. The only tie we have with them is that we have their former coach.

I'd say in conference is reasonable. Outside of that, you are just sticking it to the kid. Pretty petty IMO.

And no, we didn't restrict Morgan from going to UCLA and that is where he went. We all knew it was going to happen, but we weren't petty about it.

I don't think the rule is bad, because there are always extenuating circumstances and situations. In this situation, there is no reason for North Texas to restrict the release.

1. Jones and North Texas parted on good terms. He left for his alma mater to take his dream job.
2. He left them a loaded roster and reportedly helped convince Tony Mitchell to stay in school.
3. Odoh is a foreign player with no family in the country and had a comfort level with Jones and Forrest.
4. Tony Benford came to North Texas with a JUCO center, Keith Coleman, basically wrapped up already as he had been recruiting him at Marquette. Therefore, the loss of Odoh did not put UNT in a bind of any sort. If Odoh chose to stay, I don't think they even have a scholarship for him.
5. Benford signed two players, both of whom had been given releases from their prospective schools following coaching changes.
6. LSU and UNT have a good relationship that is extremely beneficial to UNT financially.

There has to be something going in here, this move makes no sense. UNT looks extremely petty.

I don't live in Baton Rouge and I had actually never heard of Moscona. I listened to him on-line a few times during the coaching search and I thought he was pretty good. Better than the talk-radio of Baton Rouge I remember when I lived there. He at least sounds professional. I haven't listened enough to know about his content or programming.

he tries to hard to mimic SVP with the cadence of his voice IMO FWIW. He's better than fricking Condon, Buddy etc... though.
