See Isiah Thomas

Theus isn't a scumbag like Isiah and actually had some success on this level.

We'd never have to worry about Johnny Jones leaving, we'd just have to worry about the fans leaving..

I want to be excited about LSU basketball again, but I don't see any solutions here.

Do not want Johnny Jones

Want Scott Drew

I'm warming to Theus
I think he might be a good fit

Johnny Jones would be ideal with a solid bench coach but that is an unknown

Tommy Amaker scares me due to his stint at Michigan - if he can't win there how can he win at LSU

But I do think he has the type of personality that could play well in college and excite the fanbase, except for Elleshoe.

Looks like Joe is content to stay mired in mediocrity with this list.

He's fine with mediocrity as long as the good ole boys are happy. His coaching hires to this point have been underwhelming. This one (if it's one of those three) would continue that trend. We had better goddamned well hope Miles doesn't retire while this fricker is still here.

Disappointing to say the least ... if it's one of these 3, I'd support Amaker and Theus, rather than Jones.

Because it is one very realistic and very shitty hypothetical.

Good Lord. This is the best LSU can get for 2 Million? Geez, inflation is killing us.

Times-Picayune: Confirmed candidates: Jones, Theus, Amaker
The idea behind the search is to IMPROVE LSU BASKETBALL. This list will not do that. JJ while I like him as a player and assistant he will not improve the program and it will go further downhill. I like the assistant from Duke if he'll take the job.

Not good. Not good at all. If he gets hired here, the only good thing that might come out of it is that when he screws up, Dale Brown and CT#2 will get rode out of town on a rail in terms of their 'influence". The list is troubling at best.

Yes. Similar to Hiroshima, the Holocaust, and Jordan Jefferson.

Amaker has done alright at Harvard, but his record of getting Seton Hall and Michigan to the NCAA tourney was abysmal: 10 years with SH and UM and only 1 NCAA tourney.

And we've done so mush better.

Theus did an incredible job at NMSU. He landed a five star recruit from Texas or somewhere if I'm not mistaken, which is unheard of for NMSU.

I'd be ecstatic if we hired Theus. I'd prefer Dixon, but I would not complain one bit about Theus.

His team play a run-and-gun style. It'd be entertaining.

Give me Amaker over Jones.

Wow. Not trying to be a racist but Here's some info on black head coaches in the NCAA. There has only been 3 to win National Championships...

Being a racist dosn't take much effort. Just a lot of ignorance and hate.

LSU has had a basketball team since 1939. All the coaches were white except Trent. LSU has never won a national championship in basketball. Based on your reasoning, LSU should never hire a white coach again, right? Nor should the numerous other schools that have never won the national championship and only had white coaches. That is simply ignorant.

Ignorance is just ignorant. Racism is for weak minded individuals who need to feel superior to others based on group identity rather than their own individual merit.

Did you do any research in reaching your conclusin or just the little paragraph you quoted? How many BB coaches have there been since 1939? What percentage were black? What percentage of all black coaches have won the chamionship versus the percentage of all white coaches? What percentage of schools have won championships? What schools were the respective winning coach at (some school have better opportunity than others, i.e. Duke, Kentucky, NC, UCLA, Indiana vs. LATech, LSU, Miami, North Texas, etc). How many black coaches have coached at the championship winning caliber schools?

Did the schools have championships under their previous white coaches before the three black coaches won championships? What percentage of those schools' white coaches versus percentage of black coaches (100%) won championships?
