The very first time I met her, I saw her "bitch" side... All we did was ask if the upstairs bar was open yet (we were there at 4:50 and it opens at 5)

So what is a good day to visit the Pub? I have driven by it a lot, but I'm usually further Uptown and never have checked it out being that I was in grad school and doing the more convenient bar scene, but I'm looking to branch out now that I have a job and permanent residency in the city.

I like the bulldog on canal. Not far from Metairie and a nice atmosphere.

Wasn't sure what days its super busy, good crowd, or just plain empty. I know different bars can be going on different days than the others.

Cask Fridays sounds fun though.

What's the next best closest thing? A Flying Saucer in TX?

We need a Flying Saucer in LA.

Might as well throw snake and jake's in as well. Where else can you find schlitz in a can?

Ginger Man and Petrol Station are both better beer bars in Houston, in my opinion.

Flying Saucer would still be second best in Louisiana though, no doubt.

I've had some great times at the G Man, but never been to Petrol Station. If I remember correctly, you had an initial visit to the G Man that was not so good, but subsequent visits have been better?

I wouldn't say "not so good" but the first time it had a lot more of a college bar vibe than a beer bar. Loud kids everywhere, hard to talk to people. Still had great beer though, and had a good time.

The few times I've been back have been a lot better.

Petrol Station is awesome, I'd recommend it highly next time you're in Houston.

I will go there next time I'm in Houston. I've read about it online and it does look awesome.

They go for a lot of big and super hoppy beers whenever they can find them. Hardly any imports at all, and a decent local selection.
