7.5...could have been a 9 or so with collins and kiel, but louisiana did not have a good class state wide and i think gonzalez leaving might have caused some recruits like patterson and tracy howard to look elsewhere. 2013 and 2014 are looking to be strong classes in Louisiana and lsu will not let big recruits leave Louisiana like they did this year

Just two or three players can take a class from good to excellent.

"The kids really do care and want to play for Les. I was not a big Les supporter but he has won me over with his Father like reactions to the players. They respect him but it is not out of fear."

"So it's great when LSU signs recruits from South Carolina, Texas or Florida, but when a LA. kid decides to go out of state, it is a bad decision?

I wish they would stay in state if the Tigers offer, but it works both ways!

This is right on. We get kids from other states. It just the way it is ."

These were quotes of yours back in December. The word fair weather fan was made for 'guys' like you. Make up your mind old man.

Here's another good one:

"Very well done. We are blessed to have Les. Win or lose you have to like the man. I was one not to high on him but he has won me over."

Kids do look to him as their Father figure and I do respect the way he has handled the kids and the program . However the class did not meet what many
of us were expecting based on the total record and the pass classes signed by coach Miles. I hope I'm wrong but it's what I see and feel.

He had the top QB in the country committed to us but the kid changed his mind at the last minute because he couldn't be too far from his mommy. Is that Les' fault?

I've asked it many times today but none of you negatigers can give me an answer. Which of our signees aren't LSU caliber? Or do you just look at Rivals rankings and base your opinion on that without actually seeing the players?

How many of the top 15 recruits from Louisiana went elsewhere? There's your answer. Miserable job locking up the state, and a staff that either is minimally or incapable of landing a significant number OOS. Hopefully the new coach can help. Please remind me again why Ensminger is part of this staff? He's occupying a spot that is usually used for one of the top recruiting coaches, for what? He can get the charcoal going faster than Stud?

4. Coming off of a 13-1 season and a BCS game should have resulted in a better a class and when you look at some of the schools that actually finished higher by all accounts it is disappointing. The actual loss in the BCS game is not the reason. It was the overall performance, lack of prep or enthusiasm. The misuse of the QB's and other skilled players on national TV and the overall tone of comments and tweets that came out after the game. Fact is we wanted a big sized receiver like Patterson and lost him to Tennessee, we wanted LC and didn't get him, we wanted Davis and lost him to Texas, Kiel while saying he wanted to be closer to home had to be discouraged from what he saw in the BCS and it allowed Kelly to get back in his ear. So I think based on what you see other schools have done in the year that they just finished playing in the BCS Championship Game and having the overall type of season we are coming off of, this is disappointing. Time will really tell. But there facts to support that teams that constantly play for championships are in the hunt every year finish strong in recruiting every year.

Considering our competition? A 1.
Other schools are coming in our state and taking our top prospects right out from under Miles nose. So much for him being a great recruiter. I think our recruiting is more embarrassing than the implosion on the 9th. Alabama is turning players away because they are full new can't even fill a class. Terrible.

we lost too much quality in-state talent for whatever reason.

overall rating - 8. very good potential in this class. combine that with defensive coaches that can develop players and this is a very good class. hope hawkins end up at dt. no confidence in stud developing him to the extent haley would.

the only concern I have is that this could have/should have been a 9.5 class.

these are all guys we could have signed and any 3 of them raises this class to top 5 level.

potential signees:
1. kiel (former commit)
2. lc
3. devall
4. davis (former commit)
5. miller (former commit)
6. bourque (former commit)
7. magee (katrina kid)
8. trey williams (katrina kid)
9. d'vario montgomery (katrina kid)
10. others

I believe this is a 8 class but there was a lot of opportunity missed in this class. i recognize we couldn't get all these guys but we fell short of the 25 signees we were stiving for.

Holmes and Hawkins are the only projects in this class. Holmes is very fast and could possibly be a potential deep threat and Hawkins just keeps growing. No telling how big this guy will get and what he could be capable of doing in the future. They both have the intangibles. Let's see how they develop.

Took 3-4 pages but I finally found my thoughts and I pretty much feel the same way.

Some changes based on events that happened

QB-F- Liggins didn't qualify so we got no QB.
WR-solid C- Avery didn't make it in and Holmes is now at CB.
TE-B-- Thomas didn't make it in and he was the gem
P-A-Kheen wasn't in the class at that point and will prove to be a major addition once Wing bolts. May be in the top 5 most important gets in the class in 4 years.

I'm expecting a much better thread this year. This one was just one huge pissing match.
