Personally, I'd love a coach who gave some explanation. I'd love to hear something like " Bama likes to play man under, and so when we drop back to pass the corners often have their back to the QB. For that reason I like a QB who can break a run on a busted play. I thought that if that happened only once or twice in the game then we would win. But it didn't" But if you say too much about specifics of what you like to do vs certain defenses, etc, you kind of shoot yourself in the foot in the future.

I think many coaches have found a better way to handle that than Miles, who tends to just speak in circles.

I do not share many poster's belief that Miles should detail why he made player personnel decisions in public. If he chooses not to play a kid, then it obviously would not be something complementary that he would say regarding that kid. Sometimes best to just be quiet.

Personally, I think he screws up when he says he'd 'like to get this player in the game'. He has said it about many players at many positions over the years. I think it gets him in more trouble with fans than if he just said he thought player A was better. But then he'd get followup questions asking for details and he'd be stuck again with having to criticize a kid.

I suppose many of us are naturally skeptical, given Miles's past history, but remember he did have J. Russell a few years ago, who was an NFL flop, but had a good enough junior year to turn pro & be drafted #1. Mett has a lot of the physical attributes most want in a QB & I hope he has benefitted from watching things this season. He seems ready to take the reigns & should realize how hard he has to work. Miles has no choice but to change if the team wants to win it all in the 2012 season. The talent is there!

We may still see wildcat type offense with RS back behind center a few times as well.

I've totally given up hope on this one.

Again, there is something wrong in that Miles head of his. Viewing the game again and nothing about the offense makes any freaking sense unless one intends to see futility play out until the final whistle.

That was the strangest and possibly the stupidest game plane devised because it relied on Mr. Jefferson being able to read a defense. He cannot now. He could not then. wTF is wrong with LM.

His presser yesterday made no sense to me.

"I think Jordan Jefferson has had the best spring he's had since he's been here," Miles said of his quarterback during the SEC's spring football teleconference on Wednesday. "He gets it out of his hand so quickly. He goes through the reads and progressions. There's much less hesitation in the decision-making process."

Hmm....maybe Miles got Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee mixed up?

It is a mystery what Miles sees in Jefferson. With Lee, our offense was schemed around our RBs...all 4 of them

It seemed once Jefferson entered the picture, we schemed the entire offense around him. Seems like Miles tried to make him a hero.

Just doesn't make sense.

Maybe I was thinking of someone else. The pic of Flynn made me think of someone else.

He does seem pretty miserable.

Hes a BIG LIAR. JL was there for usage (# 1 rated QB in the SEC in efficiency). Mett the gunslinger also road the pine while JJ was throwing horizontzl passes (and quickly checking down even when he had blocking)

Believe Miles, then your an idiot like him.

If JJ would have had balls he would have taken himself out and let JL go down field, or, he should have changed the plays and send RR 30 yards in the middle of the field.

Technically, that is not true.

2) The guy who now will be more effective and more efficient throwing the ball next year, was available to Miles on Jan. 9th

I don't think Miles trusted either QB to really step into the game and take over as a passer. Both were limited/protected within the offense in their own ways.

Additionally, I think Miles watched the damage which was done to Lee/JJ by being forced to play immediately (though each shares some burden for their inability to improve over their course of their careers) and didn't want to put Mettenberger in that same position.

He couldn't remember all 4 plays that we were able to run with JJ at QB? Man, are we gonna be screwed next year...

The playbook was supremely limited.

why not again. What happened in the NC game was inexcusable and we will not stand for it when something could have changed. Every human being in America knew it was time to try something different especially with a guy like JL who won us the first 8 games. Shame on you for not starting this thread and trying to understand why Lee did not play. It's bullshite

Les wins with talent not with his coaching ability
All will be forgiven until he finds another inept

sign the truth. Miles either has a poor memory/brain or is a liar. Neither should be tolerated without comment.

I learned more about the game for Bamas Upshaw than I did our own coach. Upshaws explanation of the "mush rush" and how it was designed to keep the rusher in his lane to shut down JJs running ability made perfect sense

Im sorry, but Miles (or Stud?) did not recognize that fact for 60 min. Lee would have feasted off a rush that was designed only to maintain a lane rather than blow by the blocker. Miles didnt see it, nor adjust to it. He still believed JJ was going to break one. And that the "mush rush" would be worse on a drop back passer

It really is scary to see the level of ineptness as the game is further broken down
