If you are going to call someone a liar on TD, it would be simple enough post some evidence.

I'll bite...

I want LSU to have an offensive philosophy that doesn't rely on the defense or special teams to set up our touchdowns. If our team falls behind, I want to have the ability to catch up by moving the ball down the field. I don't care if it's pass or run. Unfortunately, for the last 5 games of the 2011 season we had an offense that was not capable of moving the football 80 yards for a touchdown. We had to have great field postion set up by the defense/special teams in order to gain momentum.

Own?

Tell me who you preferred at QB again? That right there is ownage??

The QB of the worst BCS performance of all time, and he was our best option to win. And you were fully behind that

And yet you own people? With that huge football IQ that you have.

Anyone that thought JJ was an effective QB cannot own anyone. Ask Miles who got owned on Jan 9th with that belief

Thats the problem with whats happening to Tiger fans. We hate that we got owned, and JJ supporters still think He was our best option. To get owned? That was our best option?

Mett was never going to start this year being his first year in the SEC and not really grasping the playbook yet. Miles had already indicated during the year that Mett needed to mature more. Most coaches won't just throw an inexperience QB to the wolves just because. He went with experience just like most coaches would. Just like Saban did when he opted to play Randall over Flynn and Russell. It wasn't because they were worse with their mechanics or had less skill. It was because they had less experience which is something you can't manufacture. Mett was given the time to learn the playbook and ease into the starting position. Their shot at winning a BCSNC is just as good in 2012-2013 year as it was last year. If QB play takes a step forward, which I expect it will, the chances of winning it all will be even better. This was a team of largely sophomores and juniors on the field.

ok...i agree with all of this. now the question is...as posed by the OP

quote:

why people are skeptical that Miles will change

when it is extremely apparent to anyone that has been paying attention that when Miles has a QB he can trust he is definitely willing to throw the ball. Flynn averaged 30 passes a game in '07 and threw it over 40 times more than once. Hell...even Lee had about 25/game in '08.

So you see my point....all these people yelling that Miles will never change just haven't been paying attention

I sure wish Gene Chizik would have taken this philosophy instead of playing that one-year JUCO kid.

I one year JUCO kid with two springs under his belt at Florida and Auburn much like Mett now. Not to mention a 6'5 250lbs QB that can run 4.4 who used those running skills throughout the season to wear down defenses. He was a freak at that position. He had almost 500 yards rushing in the first 4 games of the season alone.

I've never said that Miles can't/won't change. I just know to not trust what he says to the media, I'll trust what he shows on the field.

but, but, but he gave answers.....and they were answers we have never heard before and they were not general basic thoughts. They were very specific. and....he covered the late runs and punts very well! he had great reasons for those calls!

next time i have lunch with Les i'll make sure to get specific answers to your specific questions.

anything else you'd like to know? toilet paper roll in or out? does he prefer college ruled looseleaf? does he REALLY love his kids? is there any way he could be more awesome?

With how the situation played out in the BCSNC game, it really bothers me that Miles had PP7 sitting the bench for kick returns and PP7 ONLY got a shot at that role because HE himself talked Miles into it. Miles is so dense apparently that he could not see the opportunity in PP7 on his own. This REALLY makes me wonder about what else he does NOT see in our players in the future. Fact.

We just have to hope that miles continues to surround himself with great coordinators and players. I hope his change involves him not being as involved in the qb dept!

No one responded to my earlier post, but it rings just as true:

Mett is only starting in 2012 because JJ has no more eligibility.

Scary thought.

JJ was only starting because Bert Jones had no more eligibility

What makes anyone think that Miles will turn the reigns over to a kid who Blackwell was quoted as saying was goofy and immature? Miles still hasnt let 2008 go, as we saw with his treatment of Lee and desire for a QB that makes plays with his feet, and not his arm
I guess I hav faith in that having a season under his belt and an offseason where he knows he is the starter (like Miles would play another freshman at QB again after 08) that the coaches tweak the playbook more for Mett. We may still see wildcat type offense with RS back behind center a few times as well.
What Blackwell says is about last year and doesn't mean much on this upcoming season. Jefferson is not coming back (Thank God) Lee is not coming back (Thank God) and Mett is the only upperclassman QB on the roster who has at least seen the field.
