Any Mizzou fans out there? What the Hell is going on?

Do we have anyone from Missouri here who can give us the real story?
The media in Missouri must have some idea what the hell the university is thinking/doing.
The longer this thing drags out the worse Mizzou looks; more importantly, the longer this thing drags out, the more disdain Mizzou is getting from both the Big 12 and the SEC fans...I'm damn near the point of being in that number.

As was noted on the Mr. SEC site, it really isn't taking any longer than the A&M move, it just SEEMS that way. Ironing out legal technicalities.
With some of the backhanded shots that have been taken against Mizzou from Big 12 officials like the OK A.D., for example, to the effect that that WVU is better than Mizzou in most every way, I don't see how or why Mizzou could ever stay in that dysfunctional conference at this point.
It wasn't all that long ago that OK was taking shots at UT. Add in neurotic Baylor and what a conglomeration of misfits that conference apparently is, what with all the backstabbing and threats, etc. Get out while you can Mizzou, Hurry!

We're gone. Just legal issues and formalities. WVU is replacing MU in the B12 but they may not be able to leave by next year. MU wants out for next year and so they have to work through this. Here's an article on an interview by MU chancellor Brady Deaton today. Its long, but after reading this there is no doubt Mizzou to the SEC is just a matter of time.

Deaton on MU timeline: 'days or possibly a week or two'
AND
quote:
COLUMBIA – Missouri chancellor Brady Deaton on Tuesday morning suggested he hoped to reveal Mizzou’s future conference address in “days or possibly a week or two.”
Deaton – in both an interview on Columbia radio station KFRU-AM and in conversations with newspaper reporters in the station lobby before and after the broadcast – stated Missouri’s view of whether to pursue admission to the Southeastern Conference to remain in the Big 12 Conference have coalesced around a probable choice.
“We’ve reached firmness in where we are headed,” Deaton said, “where we want to analyze and focus our attention.”
AND

Sources continue to tell The Star that Missouri is headed toward becoming the 14th member of the SEC for next season, joining Texas A&M which has already declared itself a former member of the Big 12 in acceptance of being the 13th member of the SEC.
Many people expected Deaton to announce, at a meeting of the Big 12 Board of Directors in Dallas on Monday, that Missouri was conditionally withdrawing from the Big 12 in anticipation of being accepted into the SEC.
While the Big 12, in a statement on Monday, noted conference realignment was discussed, Deaton said he left the room while those discussions were underway and abstained from voting on all matters on the advice of legal counsel.

It appears MU is heading to the SEC but they can't announce it yet. According to a tweet from the Dallas Morning News one hold up is negotiations between Mizzou and the Big 12 on the Exit fee and when they will be allowed to leave.
I've read lawsuits have been threatened for teams having to replace MU home games on their schedules for loss of revenue and they are trying to stick it to MU on the exit fee. Mr Deaton however when asked about his opinion on the new ideas the Big 12 are working on said "they are making some of the right moves, now, that are necessary for the Big 12 to do, and I wish them the best and all of that."
Using they and them instead of we or we're basically says we're gone but they are doing some things they should and we wish them luck.
The media here in Kansas City is basically saying that MU is gone from the Big 12 it just can't be legally announced yet and the only question is when they will be allowed to go to the SEC. That and chastising Missouri for not believing in the stability of the Big 12 and running off to the SEC.

The Big XII is playing hardball with us on Exit Fees and the want us to stay an extra year. Probably because the Big East replacements cant come for 2 years.

Exactly! When A&M went to Dan Beebe with complaints that the Longhorn Network wanted to show high school games, which wasn't part of what everyone had agreed to, he told us that we were easily replaceable. Beebe's gone but the toxic nature of the Big 12 hasn't changed.

West Virginia has no fricking clue what they are walking into.

Exactly.Nebraska and Colorado left and according to the Big 12 they were a better conference at 10 then when those two were there.
When Texas A&M left they made them the villain in public and begged them to stay behind the scenes. Then said we're better without them because TCU is better. Now it's MU's turn to be the villain and castrated by the conference.
Things have changed on the surface of the Big 12 but things have remained the same under it.

running off to the SEC
I still find it humorous how those in Austin and the rest of the bevo 9-10 are attempting to cast A&M and now Mizzou's move to the SEC as somehow running away from the power of the b12.

They're the university of Texas, right?
Is that one of those little brother things a&m does?

sort of. tamu fans can explain it better...but i think that they were once referred to as Texas University. I know that tamu's fight song says, Goodbye to Texas University.

He was asking if they are properly called Texas University or University of Texas.

I prefer to use UTa and UTk to differentiate the two big ones.
