The entire USC game was louder than any other single moment I've experienced. And I've been at all the big ones except the Earthquake game.

I think when that happened, everyone knew LSU was finally a big time program
I realized that when we beat #2 Tenn in Atlanta in 2001.

Loudest single moment: Final play of 1995 Auburn game... they needed a TD in the student-section end zone on the final play to salvage a win, but LSU picked it off... that finally got us over the hump & essentially helped end 6 straight losing seasons... DiNardo had his faults, but he did bring back the magic.
This was the first time I sat on the "sideline" part of the student section. Can't remember how we ended up there, but we were about 10-15 rows up at about the 10 yard line. When Pat Nix lofted that fade to the corner, it seemed like the stadium suddenly went silent for about 3 seconds. When Troy Twillie picked it off, it was an instantaneous deafening roar like I had never heard.
It might have been louder 97 or 07 Florida, or possibly 03 UGA, but for some reason this always sticks in my mind as loudest.
Incidentally , back in 95 the stadium was rarely locked, so me and a buddy (CFBTraveler) went into the stadium later in the week and pulled up some "Twillie Grass" as I like to call it, from where he hit the ground. I still have some of this 16 year old yellow grass stashed in a ziploc bag. I've been known to pull out a few blades and sprinkle it on the field/sideline when I think we need the mojo. It's never failed me so far (00 Bama, 01 SECCG, 03 UGA, and at auburn in 08)

I was going to say USC losing announcement during UF game 2007. But yeah, I was right in the middle of that area. I couldn't hear for several hours. Probably a good thing, didn't want to hear all of the "fire Miles" idiots anyhow. Also, it was really fricking cold that night.

In 07 when Bryd caught the td to beat Auburn was pretty damn loud. I was there for that one. I was also at the bring back the magic game in 95. The Florida win in 97 had a lot of loud moments. The UT game in 01 that we won in overtime had some really loud moments. I've probably been to around 15 LSU games and have been fortunate to catch some of the big ones.

Auburn '05 was really loud.
Florida '07 was really loud as well.
Bama game last year was also crazy loud.

I was at nearly all the games mentioned.
I still say the single loudest moment..
1987 Ohio State pregame when Earl Bruce refused to take the field first.

Gotta agree with Florida 07. Sitting in the back of the band in the student section was almost painful.

1998--don't remember the game. some jerk popped a fire cracker thingie in my ear during the national anthem

Florida 07- Jacob Hester was stopped behind the line of scrimmage on 4th down around the 50 yard line, 2nd effort and he got it. I was in high school in the student section. Literally went temporary deaf for about 2 minutes, was greatest experience ever.

Over time, I think this game's reputation will grow. Part of the problem is that the crowd was hesitant and quiet (relatively speaking) early, but built to a crescendo at the end. We truly were the 12th man in the 4th quarter, but it wasn't an all game situation. By the end it was up there with 1995 Auburn (another game that kind of peaked in the last 7 to 8 minutes) and 2007 Florida.
While I was not at '79 USC, '82 Florida State, '88 Auburn, '97 Florida, '00 Tennessee or '03 UGA - everybody I know that attended those games confirm those as candidates for loudest ever.

all the answers are great
but I think LSU fans have only made the EARTH tremble once so I'll go with that time

Okay - that was an accidental discovery and we ultimately lost the funding for the seismograph. I was at LSU as an undergrad during that era, but I missed the '88 season because I was at basic training and AIT. I was at most home games, in the student section, in 1987, 1989 and 1990, as well as 1993, 1994 and 1995 - IF we still had the seismograph, it would have confirmed an earthquake at the moment of the Troy Twillie interception against Auburn in 1995 - and a bigger one at the announcement of the USC-Stanford score during the Florida 2007 game - guaranteed.

I agree with that
but it wasn't there to prove it
