JJ didn't light it up last yr....regular season stats were somewhere around 5tds and 10int.
We'll be fine with whoever is the qb.

I just want to win, but some of this blind optimism for Lee is stunning. Lee definitely hasn't done anything over the last three years to feel more confident about our QB position.
If you have blind optimism for the other guy, you aren't paying attention either. I don't think Lee would be much worse than the guy who played last year. I am hoping somehow Mettenberger shines and gets a foothold on the spot.

Lee got thrown in as a RS frosh into the toughest conference and he did an okay job except for the pick 6's.
I expect better things after 2+ years of sitting and learning how to read defenses and how to throw the ball away.
Dont forget he did have the 5th highest passing numbers for 08 and we have a way better defense this year as compared to 08.
I still see us with a good year because now we have a pure passer in at QB to compliment our run game.
GO LEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually see this working out well for Mett. I was always frustrated that JJ could never seem to pull away from even the weakest of teams, thereby giving Lee very little PT.
I think Lee gets the O down the field quickly, resulting in Mett getting a good share of snaps.

I am not very confident that either guy could be a consistent passing QB. I just feel more confident that if shite goes wrong JJ can get some yards with his feet. It sucks to have to pick between the two based off their past performances.
I hope to see Mett as he was successful in Juco and I have no reason to think he won't be able to transition.
Lee might turn out to be awesome this year, but I don't see how you can look back over his college career and just expect that.

maybe bc the majority of his college career was his playing time as a redshirt freshamn.
Thats just a total fricking guess though.

Anyone not having confidence in Lee taking care of the ball, do you know how many turnovers JJ had last year, how many ints per pass attempts?

Hopefully he will be awesome though.

he dont have to be awesome.
He has the physical ability... be smart, protect the ball move the chains.
Lead. Thats it.

The most popular guy on our football team for the last 4 years now has been the backup quarterback because the quarterback play has been so atrocious.

Inconsistent problems. On some throws he looks fine and then all of a sudden he gets happy feet and just gets rid of it. I don't even think its the defensive pressure, don't know what it is.
