To put it in a military perspective, it would be like if 5 officers took out a bunch of e-1's and e-2's after curfew and got into a fight.
To those in the military or once were, this should sound ridiculous to you.
Imma have to say that those two situations are fairly dissimilar. Just me, though.

Come to think of it... I was with my First Sergeant in Korea and had to pull him off of a taxi cab driver one night!

Actually it would be more like a bunch of e-4's taking them out.
Officers in this analogy would be the coaches.
You do love your hyperbole don't you?

What is your deal? Why the hell are you defending these players actions to the death?

I didn't say stuff like this doesn't happen.. I have stories too

What's your rank?
lols. I brought up the military angle to point out that EVEN service members rock the boat occassionally. Comparing college football to military discipline doesn't really hold in the long run.
I'm an LT (O3, in case you're not familiar with Navy rank).

No it would be like an E-7 taking a bunch of E-1's to E-4's out while the O-1 through O-3's weren't keeping constant watch. The E-4's start a fight and the E-7 kicks a defenseless person in the head.

the breaking curfew thing really doesn't bother me .. we all broke rules growing up and at that age .. most kids toe the line and occasionally step over it ... what does bother me is my senior starting quarterback kicking a person in the head on the ground after he had just gotten beat down by a mob a little over two weeks before a major season opener .. if true .. dumb, plain fricking dumb ...

Yet unproven.

Germany (no really, in the non-TD sense).
Come at me, bro.

Pretty disappointing to read that breaking rules isn't a big deal to you. A navy officer.

Yeah, that about sums it up

My deal? I'm not defending anything to the death. I'm trying to place things into perspective in the face of (typical) hyperbolic irrational outrage. Young men are going to do dumb shite. Some of it, like breaking curfews and brawling in bars, can be dealt with in-house. Not every situation requires a fricking inquisition and firing squad.

and i would imagine even if true will be swept under the rug just in time for the oregon game .. the LSU cover up machine will take care of this regardless and people like you will be just fine with it ..

Going by this post and your icon, you seem to like/support violence. It might just be that the rest of us aren't like that. There are standards and morality to be upheld.

Again, this doesn't apply to those who were fightin
You can't even read the quote you're criticizing?
Come on, man.
If many of the reports we are hearing are true, then some disgustingly terrible actions went down that night at Shady's. Yet here you and a bunch of other people are getting caught up in the curfew aspect of it? Seriously?
It's like spending your day talking about how bad a bank robber is for speeding over the limit during the heist. frick.
For the record, how serious breaking curfew is depends on the context of the situation. When it happens toward the back end of football camp going into school, it's more like a rite of passage than anything else. You don't have to go if you don't want, but there is basically nothing wrong with seniors taking freshmen out if done properly. Again, it depends on a context a bit, but it's not abnormal or disappointing in the least.
The behavior of the team once they were there is the real problem here. And once a bar fight happens, it's not all about this "leadership" thing everybody seems to be talking about. It's about whether the group is generally a good group of people or a bad group. And, yes, some of that responsibility hangs on Les Miles himself.
Once again, it's about context. Merely throwing a punch, or shoving some dudes up against a wall, isn't any big deal, in my opinion. But when you have a very large number of LSU football players at your back, and you go and try to seriously injure another person at a bar, 2 weeks before the season is about to start no less, then I think you've got serious issues as a person.
For every "I would never break curfew" fanatic on the Tiger Rant, it seems like we also have a "what, you've never broken a rule and been involved in ganging up on someone and kicking them in the head?" jackass too. Both groups are espousing disturbing opinions.
Breaking curfew I have done, and I would consider it unusual if I didn't.
Kicking someone in the head I have not done, and it would take some serious shite to go down before I ever would--yes, even when I was "only" 18.

Agreed from what I've known Naval officers are some of the most stringent enforcers of the standard.

True, but if that person holds a leadership position, he would have that taken away because he obviously can't be trusted to be a leader.

I agree with this statement from a military perspective, however, if arrests are made, "in house" no longer is an option for dealing with the infraction. Wouldn't you agree LT?

last night gray was trying to convince us that vicarious liability could attach to LSU in some way for this and he knows because he has experience working in the insurance field.
