Will be in town this weekend and a friend recommended Deanie's on Iberville and Mother's for a couple good places to eat. What's the low down on these two places? Only in town for 2 days and want the places I eat to be worth it.

Thanks

Deanie's is all fried seafood for the most part. Mother's is over rate in my opinion. What kind of money you looking to spend?

wouldn't mind spending 75 - 100 for two people IF the food is REALLY good.

Go to K-Pauls and NOLA in the Quarter.

While those places aren't awful, they are considered to be "touristy". Im sure you could get a decent meal there, but if you want a true new Orleans experience, go elsewhere.

There are probably 20 better placed to eat in the area.

Galatoire's is a place I'd check out

Both are solid.

If you see one of these, treat yourself.

Ok with Deanies for your fried seafood and grease option. Go to Muriels for a little better meal.
Please understand, fried seafood is not what N.O. is known for.

You mean not the only thing? I'd rather get fried seafood in New Orleans than anywhere else in the country.

I would guess that the top 15 places in the city would not really fry anything. If they did, it isn't going to be a noted item.

Went to Deanie's last weekend....really good boiled shrimp and BBQ shrimp, can't vouch for the rest of it. I had a bite of the stuffed flounder and it was average. On the plus side they have huge fishbowls of several types of Abita on draft.

Highly recommend Cochon, K-Pauls, or NOLA for dinner - CALL NOW for a reservation. Do yourself a favor and go to Butcher for lunch one day. Muffaleta and Cuban are two of the best sandwiches i've ever had.

Because you can only go so far with fried seafood. The very best restaurants in Philly probably don't have cheesesteak sandwiches, doesn't mean I shouldn't eat one while I am there.

Go to deanie's, get a schooner of abita, order BBQ shrimp, with side salad of sweet fig dressing. Enjoy.

There are much better options, imo. Check out the dining guide on TD linked above.

2 Days? Those are "touristy" - Tujaques is a better touristy restrnt, IMO.

I assume you are around the quarter for 2 days:

If you go to Deanie's, get some Abita Beer and BBQ Shrimp......otherwise:

Lunch:
Couchon/Butcher: Cuban or Pork Belly Sandwich
Central Grocery: Muff
Luke: a Lunch Special for the day
Drago's: Chargrilled Oysters
Mahoney's: Poboy

Dinner:
NOLA
Muriels
K-Pauls
GWFins
Jacquelmo's
Clancy's

Cafe DuMonde for beingets and coffee
Court of Two Sisters or Brennans for brunch

That's a good list. You can't go wrong with any of those.

Dinner at KPaul, Emerill's NOLA, GW Fins, a poboy from Mahoney's, oysters from Dragos, a Ferdie from Mother's......all good choices.

I like brunch at Palace Cafe as well.
