The only and I mean only snake that could even approach that length and circumfrence is a King Cobra. In fact I would be willing to bet that is what the picture is of. Probably close to a tea plantation in India. There is no snake even close to that size in LA.

The field in the background looks like sugar cane to me. Do they grow much cane north of Baton Rouge? Also, would it be at that stage of growth this time of year?

I agree, looks like a king cobra to me. If it were a fat python, I'd believe it. If they are such an issue in the everglades, no reason to believe they don't have abandoned pets in our swamps.

I sent this to my friend the herpetologist who lives in Papua New Guinea. I'll let everyone know what he says.

No snake that length has the capabilty of having its head that high except for a King Cobra. It is either a farked pic or one of a King Cobra.

That was my first thought when I saw the picture.

Then I'm offering 4:1 odds on a fake.

It's probably not fake, just not taken near the Morganza spillway.

I'm with Kosmo. The picture looks real. I just doubt that was taken here.

There looks to be sugarcane behind it and I see a pine tree. I am guessing about 10 to 12 ft. maybe a touch less. it is entirely possible that this is a real pic. it could be a non-native or maybe a blue runner. Also it is not hooded up, its head is just up. I would be curious to know what it is. If I saw this on side of road would have to kill it on principle
